This Day In Sport – July 23

They say we should use this time to learn something new – so we thought we’d offer up a history lesson free of charge!

We’re going to be recapping all the important sporting moments each and every day as we look to fill the void our beloved sports have left behind.

So if it’s AFL, NRL, Basketball, Cricket, Golf or even Wrestling, be sure to return each morning as we take a trip back through the history books to relive some of the great sporting moments On This Day.

2016 – Warriors Golden Point Heartbreak

It wasn’t a great time for New Zealand Warriors fans and their blood pressure this time four years ago.

The Warriors suffered their third golden-point loss in the space of four games, falling to the Raiders 26-22 at GIO Stadium.

Jarrod Croker scored the winning try breaking many a heart across the ditch.

The Golden Point losses would cost the Warriors dearly, as they would miss the final eight by three premiership points.

1934 – Another Triple Ton For The Don

Don Bradman hit a whopping 43 fours and two sixes in an innings of 304 in the fourth Ashes Test at Headingley – his favourite English venue.

The Don faced 430 balls in an innings of 473 minutes.

Bill Ponsford also starred with 181 runs to his name, for a combined total of 388 between the pair.

The fourth Test at Headingly would result in a draw.
