2019 – Raising the Stokes
Ben Stokes made Ashes history scoring an amazing and unexpected century resulting in an amazing one-wicket win in the third Ashes Test at Headingley.
England was able to chase an improbable 359 – resulting in the biggest run chase in the teams history allowing them to stay alive in this Ashes series which was tied 1-1 as a result of Stokes 135 not out.
The day opened with England needing 203 runs for victory, and it was looking that Australia had the game in the bag when Stokes was left with one batting partner – Jack Leach and 73 runs still required.
Like he did in the World Cup Final only a few weeks prior, Stokes pulled off the impossible, hitting the ball here there everywhere making it a nightmare for the Australian bowling attack.
1963 – The Gladiators
St George would win their eighth consecuitive premiership defeating Wests for the third year on the trot with a controversial 8-3 win.
The match winning Try by Johnny King would be hotly contested, but it would be Saints declared the victors.

While the match itself was historic, its lasting image was rival captains Norm Provan and Arthur Summons embracing each other in the SCG mud taken by photographer John O’Gready.
That famous photo is now immortalised in Rugby League’s Provan-Summons trophy handed out to each seasons NRL premier.
