2014 – No Try For You!
The North Queensland Cowboys mounted an epic comeback after falling to a 30-0 deficit, and by half-time were down 30-12.
Led by the one and only Jonathan Thurston, the Cowboys managed to claw their way back into the game with the scores locked in 30-all at the 57 minute mark.
In the 76th minute, the Roosters managed to edge themselves infront thanks to a cleverly kicked James Maloney field goal.
With only a minute remaining, the Cowboys were away down the right edge of the old Sydney Football Stadium through Kyle Feldt, who threw a desperate pass that Robert Lui couldn’t get a handle of.
Jonathan Thurston managed to pick up the scraps, bursting clear to score but the decission was taken upstairs resulting in a “NO TRY” – the call was upheld after it was ruled that Lui made a tiny knock-on with his forearm.
Cowboys fans to this day are still very much of the belief that they were robbed in the 2014 semi final and added another chapter of robberies and near misses involving North Queensland in finals.
2000 – Golden Day For Australia
Tuesday, September 19 at the Sydney games proved to be quite the day for Australia in both the Equestrian and in the pool.
Australia took home gold in the team eventing as part of the 2000 Equestrian Program which was a mix of Dressage, Dressage & Cross Country and Dressage, Cross Conutry and Jumping.

The Aussies were ranked #1 in all disciplines and brought home the gold.
It would be Andrew Hoy’s threepeat of Gold Medals consisting of Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000
Later that evening, after smashing the Americans three days before like guitars, the Aussies got it done with another gold much to the delight of everyone in the home crowd.
