Devonport Preview – Sunday 27th September


Race 1 - 12:35pm

BenchMark 60 Handicap (1009m)

Fitzwilliam is chasing a hat rick after two wins at Devonport over the 1009m and looks the one to beat again.

Bandinelli has had a freshen up since finishing second in a 1009m Devonport Class 1 and has each way claims again.

Limerick City showed some improvement last start when runner up in a 1009m Devonport BenchMark 60 Handicap and Loki Patera is getting close to the winner’s stall with two seconds at his last two starts.

Race 2 - 1:15pm

Maiden Plate (1150m)

Gold Current has been knocking on the door to break through for his Maiden win with two seconds from his last two starts over this course and distance and gets another chance here.

Tough Cookie is fitter for one run back from a and look for improvement on his first-up fourth in an 1009m Devonport Maiden.

The Adam Trinder trained pair of Well Read and Mystic Beau are facing the starter for the first time and the betting will be the best guide to their chances.

Maiden Plate (1350m)

Wild Destiny has just missed the place at his two recent starts with a fourth and a fifth in two 1350m Devonport Maiden. Has the blinkers off and look for a better showing.

It’s A Pleasure is fitter for recent racing and is dropping back in distance following a sixth in a 1650m Devonport Maiden.

Elite Diva’s best run to date was a second two starts back in a 1350m Devonport Maiden and look for improvement from Black Magic Woman.

Race 4 - 2:25pm

BenchMark 66 Handicap (1350m)

Born Magic was a winner in a BenchMark 60 Handicap over this course and distance two starts back then was runner-up in a 1650m Benchmark 66 Handicap at Devonport and has claims here.

Fiveandfurther is up in class and back in distance following his last start win in a 1650m Devonport BenchMark 60 Handicap and can figure in the finish again.

Valcurl is fitter for one run back from a spell for a second in an 1150m Devonport Class 1 and Miss Iso is also fitter for two runs back from a break.

Race 5 - 3:05pm

BenchMark 60 Handicap (1350m)

Runaway Girl has been racing very consistently since her return to the track in June following a long break and has a win and four placings from her last five starts. She scored a nice win two starts back over this course and distance before running second in a 1350m Devonport Class 1 and is one of the main chances again.

Sheorta was placed three times before her last start seventh as favourite in a 1650m Devonport Maiden/Class 1 and can do better.

Gee Gee  Top Tip has been placed at her last two starts over this course and distance and Mywordis is fitter for one run back from a spell.

Race 6 - 3:41pm

BenchMark 74 Handicap (1650m)

Dothraki Princess is a winner over this course and distance and is ready to step up to the 1650m following her second up third in a 1350m Devonport Handicap.

Galway Girl is chasing a hat-trick following two wins over 1350m at Devonport in a Class 1 and Class 3 and still gets in well on the weights with apprentice Brandon Louis’ 2kg claim.

 Sh’bourne Rebel is racing in outstanding form with wins at his last three starts at Devonport, his latest in a 1350m Class 3 Handicap and Gee Gee Wynett hasn’t been far off the pace with placings at her last two starts at Devonport over 1350m and 1650m.

Race 7 - 4:20pm

Maiden/Class 1 Handicap (1880m)

Stanfield Carus has been placed twice from his last three starts, and is stepping up to the 1880m following his latest third in a 1650m Maiden/Class 1 Plate.

Gaius Julius broke through for his Maiden win last start at Devonport over 1650m and is ready to be tested over the 1880m.

 Georgina Louise is stepping out for the first time in Tasmania following a last start sixth in a Warracknabeal 0 – 58 Handicap two weeks ago and Banca Syd scored his Maiden win over 1650m at Devonport before finishing eighth in an 1880m BenchMark 60 Handicap.
