2018 – India Breaks Drought
India won their first Test on Austraian soil in ten years at Adelaide Oval on this day in 2018.
It was a gritty hundred from Cheteshwar Pujara after a shaky first session with India’s bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin giving the vistors a slim lead.
Australia had a target of 323 and some sharp bowling from Bumrah and Mohammed Shami on the final day.
The Indians were nervous when Austraia’s last three wickets added 104 runs, but they got home winning the first Test by 31 runs.
2006 – Beachley’s World Surf Crown x7
Austraia’s own Layne Beachley, aged 34 extended her legacy claiming a record seventh world women’s title in Hawaii beating defending world champion Chelsea Georgeson in the quarter-finals of the Billabon Pro in Honola Bay.
Beachley had won six straight ASP Tour Championshiips from 1998-2003 and 2006 was the cherry on top!
