Zipping Classic Day will not be run at Sandown this year, rather the quality race meeting will be run at Caulfield.
Our full 2021 Zipping Classic Day Preview can be viewed below.
Race 1 - 12:35pm
Listed Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m)
The Peter Moody trained Brereton is an exciting young colt as proven by his narrow victry down the Flemington straight in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate on Melbourne Cup day.
The Rosemount Stud owned son of Zoustar will be looking to continue on his winning ways and he looks a lot more forward than his competitors in this field which may prove the difference.

Listed Sandown Cup (2500m)
Accountability put together back to back wins in Sydney before heading south to Melbourne during the spring.
His runs at Caulfield and Flemington were full of merit, placing in both, and the step up in distance doesn’t look a problem.
He’s the one to beat.

Race 3 - 1:45pm
Listed Twilight Glow Stakes (1400m)
Decent Raine broke through for a much deserved victory in the Eureka Stockade at Ballarat last start after a string of unlucky runs previous.
The daughter of Dissident was dominant in that event, scoring by 3.5 lengths and she will bring a fitness edge over her rivals in this contest.

Race 4 - 2:20pm
Listed Doveton Stakes (1000m)
All three of Varda’s runs this prep have been full of merit and although she has failed to win, she has been impressive late in each.
The five year old mare has six wins and five placings from 18 career race starts and she looks perfectly placed in this event.

Race 5 - 3:00pm
Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1600m)
Tricky Gal makes the trip south after three solid runs in Sydney so far this prep.
She was beaten less than a length behind the smart Minhaaj first up at group 3 level before getting to within three lengths of Icebath in The Invitation.
Last start she was beaten 1.3 lengths in the Group 2 Hot Danish at Rosehill but this looks a very winnable race for her from the good draw in barrier three.

Race 6 - 3:40pm
Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m)
Festival Dancer is an exciting filly who has now put together four wins on the trot.
She was dominant at Goulburn when scoring by over five lengths and then made the step up in class, winning the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle by 2.5 lengths.
She will be taking on the boys but she has a heap of natural ability and with natural progression she can win.

Group 2 Zipping Classic (2400m)
Peter Moody has picked up another super staying horse as Spanish Mission joins his ever growing stable ahead of the Zipping Classic.
The lightly raced six year old was superb when making his Australian racing debut in the 2021 Melbourne Cup, finishing third, beaten a short distance by the favourite and now stablemate Incentivise.
This is one of the weakest editions of the Group 2 Zipping Classic in recent memory and he only has to come through his Melbourne Cup run with no issues to be winning.

Race 8 - 5:00pm
Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m)
Royal Mile has been a consistent performer throughout his short racing career so far having won six of 11 overall and has been unplaced just twice.
He put together four wins in a row leading into the South Australian Derby back in April/May and both runs so far this prep have been full of merit.
This is another step up in class but he represents good each way value.

Race 9 - 5:40pm
Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1400m)
The Snowden team avoided the wet track in The Gong last weekend to send the very smart I Am Superman south for this contest.
He finished within two lengths of Masked Crusader first up and was then cramped for room at a vital stage in the Classique Legend, doing his best work late.
Drawn perfectly in barrier four with the in form Jye Mcneil steering.
