Race 1 - 12:08pm

2YO Handicap (1050m)

There is not a lot of exposed form to go on in the opening race of the afternoon at Doomben and I’m happy to stay out from a betting perspective.

Race 2 - 12:43pm

Class 3 Plate (1600m)

Gave Us Up has been racing consistently right throughout this prep and the four year old broke through for a much deserved win at the Sunshine Coast last time out.

He sat just in behind the leaders in the run and peeled out to score by 1.5 lengths on the line.

This is another very winnable race for him and he represents good value at his current quote.

Race 3 - 1:18pm

Benchmark 90 Handicap (1600m)

Sea Raider was not far away in his first two runs this prep in open class on the Gold Coast before he broke through at his third start two weeks ago on the heavy track.

This race does not look a hell of a lot harder than that event and he has drawn to get a lovely run in transit from barrier two.

Race 4 - 1:53pm

Benchmark 78 Handicap (2000m)

See Marie kick started this campaign with back to back wins on the Sunshine Coast and Ipswich by a combined 4.8 lengths.

The daughter of Sebring was then narrowly defeated at Doomben over 1600m and was doing her best work late in The Wave on the Gold Coast last start.

The step up to 200m at this stage in her prep looks ideal and she has drawn well in barrier two.

Race 5 - 2:32pm

3YO Handicap (1200m)

Pentito broke through for his maiden race win at his third start during his last campaign.

He was a narrow winner at Doomben over 1350m but they beat home the third horse by a further three lengths.

After that win he finished third in a good form race behind the smart Rhapsody Rose and he will get a nice time of it out in front in this event.

Race 6 - 3:12pm

3YO Handicap (1200m)

Frosty Mango is yet to finish outside the top two in all five of her career starts including both starts so far this prep.

She will race right on the speed from the good draw in barrier three and will appreciate the drop back in class against her own sex.

This looks the right race for her.

Race 7 - 3:52pm

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1200m)

Five year old gelding Coup is way over the odds at $41 in this event after two solid showings so far this prep albeit at Warwick and Ipswich.

The barrier and weight are big concerns but with luck he can give us a sight in the straight.

Maya Bay has not been far away in all five of his runs this prep including a narrow defeat at this track and distance last start.

Another that appeals at each way odds.

Race 8 - 4:32pm

One Metro Win Last Year Handicap (1110m)

Gogol put together four wins in a row during his last campaign and was only narrowly denied when coming to town at Doomben to round out the prep.

He will benefit greatly from his first up effort on the heavy track at the Gold Coast and he is excellent each way value at his current quote of $16.

Race 9 - 5:12pm

Class 6 Plate (1350m)

She’s been incredibly frustrating through three runs this prep but I’d hate to jump off Glitter Strip now.

The Tony Gollan trained four year old has raced without luck and her racing pattern does means she gets a long way back but she has shown a good turn of foot in her races.

She carries just 52.5kgs in this race and has drawn well in barrier six.

Give her strength in the last!
