There are two ways to look at this game, and this series, following New York’s historic 29-point comeback in Thursday’s Game 4.
On one hand, the Spurs shot the lights out in the first half and looked almost untouchable, forcing the Knicks into seven turnovers. You could argue blowing a game like that means series over for such a young and inexperienced side, particularly with the Knicks stealing both games in San Antonio to begin the series.
At the same time, it’s fair to wonder whether the Knicks will have the legs to back up such an emotional performance.
The bookies have installed the Spurs as –5.5 favourites, which stands out after what we witnessed only two days ago. That said, San Antonio has been an elite first quarter team, winning 14 of their last 15 first quarters. We saw Wemby bounce back from a poor performance in Game 2 to steal the show in Game 3 earlier in the week, and after a meltdown of epic proportions in Game 4, I think the Spurs stay alive.
