Sunday 13th November
England vs Pakistan
6.00pm AEST
It all comes down to this.
Sunday night at the MCG we have a huge World Cup Final. England and Pakistan will go at it and this one should not dissapoint.
Both sides were so classy with bat in their semi finals and I’m expecting this to be a high scoring affair.
Pakistan are the $2.30 underdogs and I’m on them to win, it’s hard to look past their opening batsmen for top runscorer. Rizwan just beat Babar in the last game but I’m going to stick with Babar for top Pakistan Runscorer.
For England I really like the form Alex Hales is in and I will be on him for top England Runscorer. If Mark Wood is healthy I’ll be taking him for top England Wicket Taker.
COME ON PAKISTAN!
Wednesday 9th November
New Zealand vs Pakistan
6.00pm AEST
Semi Final #1 of what has been an incredible World Cup gets underway tonight at the SCG.
New Zealand will take on Pakistan who snuck their way into a Semi Final spot thanks to a South African meltdown against the Dutch.
If I’m being honest, I can’t back Pakistan with any confidence. They should’ve beaten India in that historic match at the MCG and they also lost Zimbabwe which doesn’t fill me with much confidence.
New Zealand on the other hand look like the most well rounded T20 in the world at the moment. Yes they lost to England but they bounced back quickly after that and put on another well rounded performance against Ireland (who beat England).
I’m with NZ here and I’m sticking with Kane Williamson and Lockie Ferguson to be top of the stat sheet.
He’s let me down so far this tournament but you can’t hold a good batsmen down for too long. I’m sticking with Babar Azam for top Pakistan Runscorer and Shaheen Afridi for Top Pakistan Wicket Taker.
Sunday 6th November
South Africa vs Netherlands
10.00am AEST
I’ve quite enjoyed watching the Dutch play in this tournament but sadly, it all ends on Sunday.
They take on a South African side that has been far too good this World Cup and will be looking to put their foot down on the way to the finals.
Max O’Dowd is the second highest runscorer so far this World Cup and Bas De Leede has the second most wickets. I’ll be taking them and hoping they finish strong.
I’ll also be taking De Kock even though he let me down on Thursday night.
Pakistan vs Bangladesh
2.00pm AEST
It could be too little too late for Pakistan.
Their slow start to the Super 12 is probably going to be their undoing and will more than likely be packing their bags after this one.
They take on Bangladesh and honestly, I’m having a play on the Bangers. I have not liked anything about Pakistan this world cup and am banking on them having dropped heads in this one.
Zimbabwe vs India
6.00pm AEST
Kohli is on a rip and tear and will more than likely continue to bully the minnow nations in this final game of the Super 12.
The Zimmers have been ok in patches but India have been unstoppable and will coast home in this one.
I’m backing Kohli and Arshdeep once again. They haven’t let me down!
Saturday 5th November
England vs Sri Lanka
6.00pm AEST
England losing to Sri Lanka would do huge things for Australia’s finals hopes but sadly, I don’t see it happening.
England have been far too good this tournament and I think they will be using this game as centre wicket practice for the semis.
I’m taking Ben Stokes and Mark Wood in this one and Kusal Mendis for top SL runscorer.
Friday 4th November
Ireland vs New Zealand
2.00pm AEST
We’re starting to get to the pointy end of the tournament and I hate to say it Irish fans, you might not have many games left.
New Zealand will be looking to get back on track after losing to England on Tuesday night, they’re still my tip to win the whole thing but they’ll have to win from here on out if they want to taste World Cup success.
I’m liking Kane Williamson for Top Runscorer and will be taking Lockie Ferguson for the wickets.
Thursday 3rd November
Pakistan vs South Africa
6.00pm
This should be a huge match up on paper but Pakistan have been the biggest dissapointment of the tournament so far. I’m surprised that they are only $2.30 underdogs, if you ask me I think that’s short.
South Africa have been sensational so far this tournament and it’s hard to see them not winning in this one, Pakistan’s heads are down and I don’t think they will show up tonight.
I’m taking on De Kock for Top Runscorer and Rabada for the wickets.
Australia vs Afghanistan
6.00pm
Australia can still make it out of the Super 12 but they are going to have to belt Afghanistan tonight and hope that they can salvage their net run rate.
While I think we will win, I don’t believe we will do enough to get out of the group. Our batting has been incredibly clunky all tournament and we have lacked the ability to put the smaller teams away.
He hasn’t quite fired yet this tournament but I’m taking Mitch Marsh for top Aussie Runscorer and Zampa to be in the wickets.
Wednesday 2nd November
Zimbabwe vs Netherlands
2.00pm
The 0-3 Netherlands will need to win big against Zimbabwe this afternoon at the Adelaide Oval if they want to keep their World Cup hopes alive.
They are currently $2.75 underdogs but have been one of my favourite teams to watch so far this tournament.
They will be without tearaway quick Bas De Leede who copped a sickening blow in their last game against Pakistan but I am going to take them on against a Zimbabwe side that hasn’t been much better this tournament.
India vs Bangladesh
6.00pm
The Bangers will need a big upset over India tonight if they want to lock in a Semi Finals spot.
Currently sitting at $5.50 underdogs, I don’t like their chances against an Indian side that has been so dominate in this tournament already.
Virat Kohli has been very profitable for me so far this tournament and it’s hard to turn away from him tonight. I’ll be taking him once again and I’ll be taking Bhuvneshwar Kumar for top wicket taker.
Tuesday 1st November
Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka
2.00pm
It’s a wet and wild day up in Brisbane today. The groundsman will be working over time to get games on today and I’m not confident this game will go ahead.
That being said if we do get on, it’s hard to look past Sri Lanka in this one, the wet conditions will favour the bowlers. I like Wanindu Hasaranga for top SL Wicket Taker and it’s hard to look past Rashid Khan for Afghanistan too.
England vs New Zealand
6.00pm
Praying for the rain to ease up for this one it should be a cracker of a game if it gets on!
Two of the sides that should take it deep in this tournament, New Zealand look like a complete cricket team and they’re my tip to win the whole Tournament.
I like Rashid in the wet to be England’s top wicket taker and why not take NZ’s spinner too. I’m rolling with Mitch Santner.
Monday 31th October
Australia vs Ireland
6.00pm
There is no rain forecast for Brissie tonight, the Aussie’s will get on.
The boys will be ready to put a solid performance on after Friday night’s blockbuster clash with England was unfortunately washed out.
The Aussie’s have a much more favourable match up tonight when they take on Ireland.
I wouldn’t completley count Ireland out however, they certainly haven’t been push overs in this tournament and Australia certainly haven’t been at their best.
I haven’t seen enough from our opening Batsmen to back them for top runscorer yet so I’m taking Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc absolutely loves bowling at the Gabba and I think he’s a good shout for our top wicket taker.
Sunday 30th October
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe
1.00pm
Fresh off a final ball thriller with Pakistan, Zimbabwe will look to keep it going against Bangladesh.
The Zimbabwean’s are $2.30 outsiders but I’m willing to take that on. They were sensational against Pakistan and I’m well and truly on the bandwagon!
Netherlands vs Pakistan
5.00pm
I hope they have cleared their airways before this match. Pakistan have been monster chokers this tournament.
They take on a Netherlands side that was dismal against India on Thursday night. There honestly wasn’t many good things I could say about them.
If Pakistan don’t win this one, I don’t know what to tell you. They are $1.10 favourites and should bounce back if they’re serious about their cricket.
I’m taking Babar Azam for the final time this tournament if this doesn’t get up, I’m off him completely.
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka
6.00pm
Rounding out the weekend fixtures is a huge match up between India and South Africa.
India are the current form team in the cup but I could very easily be saying that about SA if rain didn’t ruin their opening match.
Kohli looks like a new man and South African batsman Rilee Rossouw scored a century in their previous game.
I’m tipping India but this one could go either way!
Saturday 29th October
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka
6.00pm
We only have the one game on Saturday but it should be a good one.
New Zealand will be raring to go after rain stopped them from getting on for their second match of the tournament.
A win for Sri Lanka could see them leap frog NZ in the standings.
I don’t think they will though, New Zealand look strong and should come out on top here.
Top Run Scorer Tips: Devon Conway (NZ), Kusal Mendis (SL)
Top Wicket Taker Tips: Tim Southee (NZ), Maheesh Theekshana (SL)
Friday 28th October
Afghanistan vs Ireland
2.00pm
Rashid Khan and Afghanistan open up as $1.67 favourites to Ireland’s $2.20. These two sides kick off the double header at the MCG tonight and it truly is anyone’s game.
I like Ireland in this one, I think they’ve had more opportunities to get used to the Australian conditions and I haven’t seen enough from Afghanistan that makes me think they will get up in this one.
I’m taking Andrew Balbirnie for Top Irish Runscorer and Rashid Khan as Afghanistan’s top wicket-taker.
Australia vs England
6.00pm
One of the biggest games of the tournament! It’s all going down at the MCG and we are set for a huge game.
Australia are $1.80 favourites compared to England’s $2.00 and I’m finding it very easy to make a case for England. They’ve had the wood over us in the tune up games and have been unstoppable so far in the tournament.
Australia were red hot against Sri Lanka and I think they needed that emphatic victory especially after losing last week to NZ.
Hard for me to look past Mitch Marsh for top runscorer, I also like Ben Stokes.
For wickets I’m taking Hazlewood and Sam Curran
Thursday 27th October
South Africa vs Bangladesh
1.00pm
Despite almost playing a full game, rain was the real winner in South Africa’s opening game of the tournament against Zimbabwe.
They looked red hot however and will come out firing again against Bangladesh. I’m backing South Africa in this one of course and I think we could see even more runs off De Kock’s bat. He’s a short favourite at $3.10 but he’s that short for a reason.
Rabada went wicketless in their first match but I don’t think he will go wicketless in this one, I’m taking him for top wicket taker.
Netherlands vs India
5.00pm
It’s a double header at The SCG tonight. Netherlands are the poor souls that have to play India after their triumphant win over Pakistan.
The bookies have the Netherlands at $12 which almost feels short, I think India are going to be far too good in this one.
Virat for top run scorer at $4.00 looks like value, he’s clearly in form at the moment, we also had a win on Arshdeep Singh for top wicket taker and I’m going to stick with it.
Pakistan vs Zimbabwe
9.00pm
The T20 action does not stop, we have a late game tonight as well for those fans that don’t think two games is enough.
Pakistan are $1.10 favourites but their inability to close out the game against India makes me feel like that could be far too short.
I like Babar to be top runscorer for Pakistan, he failed against India but won’t fail here, I like Shadab Khan for Top Wicket Taker too.
Wednesday 26th October
After some truly inspirational performances in the qualifying round. The Irish set to take on England tonight at the MCG but it’s hard to view this as anything but a tune up game for England.
They open as $1.05 favourites and it’s hard to fault them especially after their 5 wicket win over Afghanistan.
Ben Stokes is huge value for top runscorer, he’s currently at $6.40 and thats probably because of his failure with the stick in the previous game. I’m going to take him on.
Sam Curran got the first ever 5 Wicket Haul by an Englishmen in a T20 International last game but I don’t think he emulates that again. Wood & Woakes both bowled incredibly well last game and its a coin flip for me between those two. Coin landed on heads, I’m on Mark Wood again.
New Zealand vs Afghanistan
6.00pm
It’s a double header tonight at the MCG. New Zealand will be taking on Afghanistan straight after the early game.
New Zealand will be coming in red hot after their convincing victory over Australia and are $1.22 favourites over the $4.25 Afghanistan who played well in patches against England but will need to put together a complete performance tonight if they want a chance of upsetting the Kiwis.
Conway was huge for NZ last week with a massive 92 runs. Will he do that again? Probably not, I’m considering backing him again and it’s hard to look away from a NZ opening bat for top runscorer in this on.
It was business as usual for Southee against Australia, he bowled the house down for figures of 3/6. I like him to rip through once again here.
Tuesday 25th October
Australia vs Sri Lanka
9.00pm
Australia will need to get back to their winning ways this evening against Sri Lanka and I’m backing them to do just that. Sri Lanka have been far too hot and cold for my liking and I think the Aussie’s should comeback after that belting against NZ.
I really like Mitch Marsh and Adam Zampa to lead the way in this one and it’s hard to look past Parthum Nissanka for SL top runscorer and Hasaranga for top wicket taker.
Monday 24th October
Bangladesh vs Netherlands
2.00pm
It’s going to be hard to top what we saw last night but I am still looking forward to this match up a lot!
We’ve been able to see a heap of The Netherlands so far this tournament and I kind of think that $3.50 for them to win against Bangladesh is value. They have the batting talent to do it, it just depends on if they show up or not.
I’m taking the at $3.50 and I’m sticking with O’Dowd and Tim Pringle to be top of their respective stats.
For the Bangers I’m leading towards Shakib Al Hasan for top runscorer and Hasan Mahmud to be top of the wicket takers.
South Africa vs Zimbabwe
6.00pm
The Saffas get their campaign underway this evening when they take on their neighbours Zimbabwe.
Their isn’t much the Bookies like about Zimbabwe in this one and it’s hard to argue with them. South Africa are $1.10 favourites and it’s fairly obvious why.
I’m going to be lame in this one and back the favourites for SA. De Kock for top runscorer and Rabada top wicket taker.
Zimbabwe I like Wessly Madhevere for Top Runscorer and Sikandar Raza for wickets.
Sunday 23rd October
Quite possibly the biggest rivalry in world sport. These two cricketing powerhouse faceoff on Sunday Night and I cannot wait.
India will come into this one as favourites but as we know, anything can happen between these two sides and they often elevate when they play eachother.
I’m taking Pakistan in this one if I’m being honest. Babar is unstoppable at the moment and their bowling attack is one of the best in the world.
Pakistan Top Run Scorer: Babar Azam, Top Wicket Taker: Shaheen Afridi
India Top Run Scorer: Rohit Sharma, India Top Wicket Taker: Arshdeep Singh
Saturday 22nd October
Australia vs New Zealand
5.00pm
We’re officially into the Super 12 and we’re starting with a bang! The Aussies take on the Kiwis at the SCG on Saturday night, how good.
The Aussies will look to put a string of pre tournament loses behind them and get their World Cup campaign off and running with a win over their trans-tasman rivals.
They are $1.45 favourites and I’m not going to bet against the Aussies. Yes they didn’t have a great warm up but they were just testing out a few things, now it’s business time and they will be just fine.
I’m going to take Glenn Maxwell Top Runscorer for Australia and Pat Cummins top Wicket Taker
For NZ I like Guptill for top runscorer and give me Jimmy Neesham for top wicket taker.
England vs Afghanistan
9.00pm
England get a fairly favourable match up for their first game of the WC. They are $1.14 favourites to beat Afghanistan.
It’s pretty hard to make a case for Afghanistan. England should take it pretty deep this year and I think this game could be pretty brutal.
Looking forward to seeing Rashid Khan in this one however.
England Top Run Scorer: Jos Buttler, England Top Wicket Taker: Reece Topley
Afghanistan Top Runscorer: Rashid Khan, Afghanistan Top Wicket Taker: Rashid Khan
Friday 21st October
Ireland vs West Indies
2.00pm
Group B is still anyone’s to win. Everyone is 1-1 and the two biggest names in the group will be going at it for a spot in the next round.
The Windies are $1.40 favourites and made a huge statement against Zimbabwe and I think that Ireland’s fielding is what will let them down in this match. In both games they have conceded an average of 175 runs and that’s a big total to chase down every match especially against a side like the West Indies.
If Ireland are to win this, they will need to tighten up with the ball and stop the run party.
I’m taking Johnson Charles for top West Indies Runscorer and Alzarri Joseph for top West Indies Wicket Taker.
Scotland vs Zimbabwe
6.00pm
It’s the other Group B decider kicking off tonight. Scotland and Zimbabwe will be taking each other on for a spot in the Super 12.
I’m running with Scotland in this one. They are $2.25 under dogs but that doesn’t really mean much in my eyes. They currently have the best net run rate in the group and I’m backing them to come up winners in what will be an arm wrestle of a game.
Michael Jones is second for most runs in the comp so far with 106 so I’m backing him for top Scottish Runscorer and I’m taking Muzarabani for Zimbabwe wicket taker. He has 5 for the tournament and should continue to go about his work in this one.
Thursday 20th October
Netherlands vs Sri Lanka
2.00pm
Sri Lanka take on the undefeated Netherlands team and will need a win this afternoon if they want to progress to the next round. They open as $1.14 favourites and after their dismantling of the UAE that makes a lot of sense.
The Netherlands have been incredibly solid with bat and ball, I’m looking forward to this match up a lot.
Netherlands Tips – Top Runscorer: Vikram Singh @ $4.50, Top Wicket Taker – Bas De Leede @ $4.50
Sri Lanka Tips – Top Runscorer: Pathum Nissanka @ $3.50 – Top Wicket Taker – Dushmantha Chameera @ $4.50
It’s a match up that Sri Lanka may have to watch really closely, a win to Namibia here could see them not qualify for the next round. The bookies expect that to be the case here as well. Namibia are $1.36 favourites and after the UAE’s loss to Sri Lanka the other day, I think they’re just happy to be here.
I like Namibia in this one for obvious reason, I’m hoping for a huge win that sees them advance. That would be huge!
Namibia Tips – Top Runscorer: Jan Frylinck @ $7, Top Wicket Taker: David Wiese @ $4.50
UAE Tips – Top Runscorer: Chirag Suri @$5, Top Wicket Taker: Junaid Siddique @ $3.75
Wednesday 19th October
Scotland vs Ireland
2.00pm
1st plays 3rd in this Group B clash. Ireland were upset by Zimbabwe in their first game of the tournament and will be looking to knock Scotland off the top spot. Scotland will be on cloud 9 after their upset win against the West Indies. This is shaping up to be a great contest!
I think Ireland will get the chocolates in this one. $1.67 isn’t a great price but I’m backing them to win.
I like Skipper Andy Balbirnie to be top Irish Runscorer, he’ll be looking to make up for his 3 off 4 against Zimbabwe. Mark Adair is my tip for leading Irish wicket taker too!
West Indies vs Zimbabwe
6.00pm
The Windies will be coming out firing after their surprise 42 run loss to Scotland. Their top order let them down and not even Jason Holder’s heroics with bat and ball could save the day.
The World #7 T20 team come into the one $1.36 favourites and it’s hard to see them losing two in a row.
I’m taking Jason Holder top run scorer again and backing a few salutes from Sheldon Cottrell as top wicket taker. He didn’t play Game 1 but I think he’s needed in this one.
Tuesday 18th October
Namibia vs Netherlands
3.00pm
The top two teams in Group A are facing off and you’d expect the winner of this one to be moving on to the Super 12.
Namibia played a near perfect game against Sri Lanka who in all seriousness should be a lot better than they currently are.
Kardinia Park seems quite a challenging ground to score on. The straight boundaries are very long and cow corner seems like the hardest boundary to clear which is not what you want in a short format.
Netherlands at $2.30 is really great value that I will be taking on.
Max O’Dowd looked great against the UAE and I’m tipping him to be top scorer again. Bas De Leede is my tip for top wicket taker. He was MOTM against the UAE and I’m hoping he keeps that momentum going.
Sri Lanka were incredibly disappointing in their hit out against Namibia. No one really bowled with much menace and they were all out for 108.
They are $1.08 favourites to win but this tournament has showed me that upsets are very possible and I don’t actually have a huge amount of faith in Sri Lanka to turn it around.
I’m taking the UAE here and cheering for an upset!
Monday 17th October
Zimbabwe vs Ireland
3.00pm
This is a matchup that intrigues me. Netherlands open at $1.75 and I think that has a lot to do with their Brisbane Heat batsmen Tom Cooper. He is $5 to be top runscorer in this one and that’s value that is hard to look past.
I also like the favourite Max O’Dowd at $3.75. He averages 29.28 at the top level and should be able to cash in against the UAE.
A matchup I’m looking forward to a lot. Two cricketing nations on the rise. This one is being played in Hobart which will have conditions as close to Ireland as you’re going to get in Australia.
I’m a big fan of the things Ireland are doing and I favour their play style in Hobart. I’m tipping the Head to Head @ $1.80.
Josh Little at $4.00 is my tip for top Ireland wicket tacker. The big left armer should have a day out!
Sunday 16th October
Sri Lanka vs Namibia
3.00pm
The T20 World Cup Officially starts on Sunday Afternoon when Sri Lanka take on minnows Namibia. Sri Lanka will have to go the long way through the tournament if they want World Cup glory and wins in these qualifying round will be where they have to start.
Sri Lanka will be very short favourites in this match up at $1.08. I like Kusal Mendis at $3.50 for Sri Lanka’s top runscorer. He was player of the series against Australia in the ODIs a few months ago and the conditions in Geelong should help him a lot.
