Randwick-Kensington Preview – Wednesday, 5th July

Seven races are on the program this Wednesday at Randwick-Kensington.

The weather is fine, the track a Good 4, and the rail is out 5m at time of publish.

Like always, we’ve run the rule over the entire meeting below.

2YO Maiden (1150 METRES) - Race 1 12:50pm AEST

A lot of first starters in the opening race of the afternoon and I’m happy to stay out from a betting perspective.

3YO Maiden (1150 METRES) - Race 2 1:25pm AEST

The James Cummings trained Pereille is yet to miss a place in six career race starts.

The son of Fastnet Rock has been a thorn to the punters, starting a short price on numerous occasions but both trials leading in suggest he is ready to break his maiden in this event.

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1300 METRES) - Race 3 2:00pm AEST

Demitasse is a three-year-old with a fair amount of ability and he is putting together a pretty good racing resume.

He has four wins and three minor placings from nine career starts including a win in a Highway race at Randwick two back.

He’s being asked to carry the big weight but the apprentice will use his claim for weight relief.

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1300 METRES) - Race 4 2:35pm AEST

Anagain is yet to win so far this prep from four attempts but she has been more than competitive in a higher grade of race.

She has just one win from 17 career starts but the 1300m looks ideal and she has drawn to get a nice run in transit from barrier four.

BM72 Handicap (1300 METRES) - Race 5 3:10pm AEST

Super Friendship made a successful start to his Australian racing career with a win on debut at Canterbury over 1200m.

He is only a very lightly raced five-year-old gelding who is looking for his third win in his seventh start and this looks a very winnable race for him.

Watch betting.

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1550 METRES) - Race 6 3:45pm AEST

The Replicant has been a consistent performer over a period of time now having placed 10 times from 14 trips to the races.

Both starts this prep have been full of merit without winning and he gets out to a more suitable distance where he has won twice from four starts.

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1000 METRES) - Race 7 4:20pm AEST

Passeggiata returned to the track first up with a win where she absolutely flew the gates over 1000m here at Randwick.

That was her third win in just four starts but she only just lasted to hold on narrowly in the concluding stages.

This mid week race looks a fair bit easier and she has been well placed in my opinion.

The apprentice will use his claim and she looks one of the best on the card despite the short odds.
