Eight races will be run and won on the Sandown Hillside this Wednesday.
The rail will be in the true position and the track is currently rated a soft 7.
We’ve had a close look at all eight events on the program and our thoughts can be found below.
There was a lot to like about the debut performance of Jazzclub and the youngster looks to have plenty of upside.
After jumping away well, he found himself three deep facing the breeze throughout the 1300m event but still showed a strong kick in the straight to pull away and score comfortably by over two lengths.
The form out of that race has been franked with the third placegetter going on to take out the Byerley Handicap at Flemington over the weekend.
He’s set to enjoy a cosy run from the inside draw under Ethan Brown, who retains the mount for Ciaron Maher.
1 unit – JAZZCLUB
La Casona found the line well when resuming on the Lakeside and the filly will appreciate the rise to 1400m here.
Only lightly raced having had the three starts, the daughter of Snitzel won well on debut back in January before contesting the Group 3 The Vanity on a very firm track, where she wanted to over race and faded late.
She’ll relish the conditions and gets in nicely with Jaylah Kennedy’s 2kg claim.
1 unit – LA CASONA
Iphimedia failed to let down last start on the Lakeside but back in trip and a drop in the weights should see her bounce back.
Taken back to last over the 1000m when resuming at Cranbourne, she powered home late to just to be denied in a photo finish.
Second up, again over the short course, she was doing her best work late after settling back off the wide draw.
A two time stakes placegetter, she’s certainly talented and looks nicely placed here.
Barrier five can see her settle with striking distance and with clear air, she’ll be charging home under Jye McNeil.
1 unit – IPHIMEDIA
Wuddzz is racing well and will appreciate getting back on a track with some give.
The six year old was given a let up after he didn’t get things to suit at Warrnambool but has placed in two subsequent runs and presents here hard fit.
He does race particularly well over the 2400m and gets in nicely with the 2kg claim for in-form apprentice Jaylah Kennedy.
1 unit E/W – WUDDZZ
Mighty won well when resuming over this course and distance three weeks ago and the Spirit Of Boom filly looks well placed to repeat that performance.
Tucking into a midfield position she travelled kindly under Blake Shinn and when asked for an effort in the straight, she accelerated strongly to score by a neat length.
Whilst her second up record doesn’t look overly flash, she has had excuses and the 1000m certainly looks to be her ideal distance.
Shinn stays onboard and barrier two should see her afforded all the favours.
1 unit MIGHTY
Rackemann comes here off back to back wins and looks well placed to make it three straight.
The son of Impending has always displayed good ability and is putting it all together this campaign.
He found enough over the final part to get the job done at Ballarat two runs back and was a lot more genuine last start with the blinkers on, scoring over 1415m at Sale under the 62kg impost.
The slight rise in trip looks ideal and whilst he does rise in grade, he’ll appreciate some weight relief.
1 unit – RACKEMANN
Hazel Baby was doing her best work late after getting a long way back last start and is sure to improve here.
The daughter of Toronado has shown good ability throughout her thirteen start career and the form around her is solid.
She’s won two from three over the 1300m here and is proven in all conditions.
Jamie Kah knows her well and goes back aboard for Ciaron Maher.
1 unit – HAZEL BABY
Lincoln Rocks proved far too good when resuming over 1400m at Sale.
Having his first start on Australian soil, the former Kiwi galloper settled back in the second half of the field and powered home down the outside to post a 5.5 length victory.
A winner over the 2200m journey back in NZ, the gelding will certainly relish the rise in trip and whilst he does go up in class, he gets in nicely with 56.5kgs on his back.
The big track will suit and if he can find cover without getting too far off them, he’ll be right there at the finish.
