Doomben Preview – Wednesday 13th November

Doomben Preview – Wednesday 13th November

Doomben will play host to this week’s Brisbane metropolitan meeting, with just six races to be run and won.

The track is currently rated a heavy 8 and the rail will be out 8m for the entire circuit.

We’ve had a close look at all events on the card and our thoughts can be found below.

JONKERS FIRST YEARLINGS 2025 MAIDEN PLATE SW (1350 METRES) - Race 1 1:53pm

There was a lot to like about the last start performance of Private Equity and she looks well suited with the rise in trip.

Racing up on speed over the 1200m here, she showed a good kick in the straight to get within a neck of the eventual winner.

The daughter of Capitalist was luckless in her first two outings, always wide and exposed on debut at the Sunshine Coast, she then found herself with no room move and went to the line untested at the Gold Coast.

She’s fit, she drops 1.5kgs on that latest run and barrier six should see her afforded every chance under Kyle Wilson-Taylor, who goes onboard for David Vandyke.

SKY RACING CLASS 2 HANDICAP (1650 METRES) - Race 2 2:28pm

Tuff Tu Mus in building a very tidy record and will look to make it three straight wins.

The runner up at his first two outings, the son of All Too Hard proved far too good over the 1350m here at his third race start and was even better last time, kicking clear over the final part to score by over four lengths.

The way he found the line suggests he’ll be suited out to this trip and the wet track won’t worry him.

He does have the outside gate to overcome but with good speed he should be able to put himself up there without burning too much petrol early.

SEN CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)  - Race 3 3:03pm

Loves Me Likearock was only plain when resuming at Eagle Farm but she will have taken plenty of benefit from the outing.

Settling back in a fast run race, she just never got into it but she strips fitter and will appreciate the drop back in grade.

The Kris Lees trained mare kicked off her career in the UK and in two Australian campaigns she’s proven superior in both second up appearances.

Bailey Wheeler will take 1.5kgs off and with luck from the draw, I think we’ll see a much improved performance from her.

U&U RECRUITMENT BM65 HANDICAP (2050 METRES) - Race 4 3:38pm

Majorian has been racing well and is sure to relish getting back onto a track with plenty of give.

Prepared by the Neasham / Archibald team, the Mikki Isle gelding was very strong to line when stepping out in soft 7 conditions over this course and distance two runs back.

Last start again over the 2000m here he settled midfield but just didn’t finish off as well as expected.

He drops back in grade and with his best runs having been on soft and heavy tracks, he gets conditions to suit.

Dan McGillivray will do the steering and take 3kgs off.

3:00pm XXXX GOLD BM65 HANDICAP (1200 METRES) - Race 5 4:13pm

Sultry Siren has performed well in all three starts since joining the new stable and she’s sure to make her presence felt once again.

Formally prepared at Cranbourne by the Coleman / Moody team, the impeccably bred mare wasn’t far away in five starts in Victorian prior to heading north and she proved too good over the 1100m here when resuming.

She had no luck second up and last time, was solid again as she charged home late to dead heat for second.

She’s fit, she looks very progressive and gets in nicely with the claim for Bailey Wheeler.

LADBROKES RACING CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350 METRES) - Race 6 4:48pm

Starlight Nation made his Australian debut over 1400m at Eagle Farm three weeks ago and just looked to feel the pinch late.

Having not raced for twelve months, the UK import will have taken plenty of benefit from the outing and the 1350m here looks ideal.

Whilst he only won the one race in his homeland, the form around him is solid and should find this easier than what he’s previously contested.

Kyle Wilson-Taylor takes the mount for Tony Gollan and gate five will see him afforded every chance.
