Warwick Farm Preview – Wednesday 18th December

Another seven metropolitan races will be run and won at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, December 18th.

The weather has been fine in the general Sydney region this week and we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (4) range at publish, while the rail will be set out three metres around the entire course

Check out my full Warwick Farm preview and tips below.

Pinatubo First Yearlings Handicap (1000m) - Race 1 2:20pm AEDT

All seven horses in the first at Warwick Farm on Wednesday are on debut.

I can’t find anything that I am particularly confident in, so I am going to stay out of this from a betting perspective with one eye on something later in season.

Racing And Sports Plate (1300m) - Race 2 2:55pm AEDT

Hurry Miss can break her maiden this week.

The Peter Snowden-trained filly has only made one appearance at the races so far, but she showed some promise to fill the minors at Kembla Grange back in August.

She’s had the benefit of a couple of trials leading up to her return and this looks a nice kick-off point.

Inglis Classic Sale 9-11 Feb Out Now Handicap (2200m) - Race 3 3:30pm AEDT

I’m happy to give a fit Montgomery another chance at nice odds this week.

The son of Prized Icon has improved noticeably with each of three runs back this time, and he we were with him when he filled the minors at Wyong last week.

Out to 2200m suits at this point of his prep and we can have an each way play at the price ($8.50 at publish).

All Too Hard @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1000m) - Race 4 4:05pm AEDT

Passeggiata is back at the midweeks, and I think it’s going to prove decisive.

The Winning Rupert mare is yet to strike in four runs back from a break and while she has mixed her performances, a credible second behind Confess Our Dreams at Rosehill Gardens two back would certainly be good enough to win this.

She’s hard fit and a touch of overs in my opinion at her current price ($6 at publish).

Buy An Arrowfield Yearling Handicap (1400m) - Race 5 4:40pm AEDT

Sly Boots takes improvement into a nice second-up target at Warwick Farm.

The Toronado gelding has been a competitive horse for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott for a couple of seasons now, and he returned to action with a nice performance over 1250m at Canterbury late last month.

With natural improvement and further out in trip, this looks ideal.

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m) - Race 6 5:15pm AEDT

War Star was an impressive last-start winner and can make it two on the bounce in the penultimate race at Warwick Farm.

The Starcraft gelding finished three lengths third behind the smart Candlewick at Wyong when resuming this time before producing an utterly dominant performance to break his maiden at Hawkesbury.

This is harder, but he’s open to further improvement and it looks the next logical step for him to take.

James Squire Handicap (1200m) - Race 7 5:50pm AEDT

Up To Mischief rates as a key winning chance in the last.

Up To Mischief won two of three starts last time in, while she returned to action to only just miss behind Joyner at Canterbury.

She won her only other second-up start to date and this looks within her abilities.
