It’s Ladbrokes Super Saturday on the Coast this weekend as feature racing heads to Geelong.
The Listed Black Pearl Stakes for the fillies and mares is set to headline a bumper ten race card which will also include the running of the $300k Coastal Classic, along with the $150k Geelong Diamond for the two year olds.
The rail will be in the true position and the track is rated a good 4.
We’ve had a close look at all events on the card and our thoughts can be found below.
Born With Wings produced an encouraging effort when resuming for the new stable and he will have taken plenty of improvement from the outing.
The Irish bred gelding kicked off his career in France before heading down under but failed to fire in two short preparations for the Snowdens.
Kicking off over 2000m at Pakenham, he settled up near speed and held his ground well through the line.
He strips fitter, drops back in grade and does look well suited out to 2400m, as he has been successful over this trip previously.
Beau Mertens got a good feel for him last time and he stays in the saddle for Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald.

Princess Nefertiti has performed well in three runs back from a break and looks ready to peak.
She bumped into a couple of handy ones at Moonee Valley two runs back and was solid through the line last time on the Caulfield Heath.
The daughter of American Pharoah won well over 1800m before heading to the paddock and whilst she doesn’t win out of turn, there’s a bit to like about her here.
She drops back in grade, the rise to 1700m looks ideal and Jett Stanley will take 2kgs off.

Call Him Iggy could not have been more impressive when kicking off over 1200m at Seymour and he looks set for a big preparation.
Having his first start under new trainer Matthew Smerdon, the son of Ribchester settled well back and when asked for an effort, he charged home down the middle of the track to reel in the well supported White Bear, and score easily with the pair putting up a big margin back to the rest.
Only lightly raced having had the six career starts, he’s now recorded three wins and a second and he looks very promising.
He’ll relish the rise to 1400m and barrier three can settle him settle closer in the run.

Lofty Thoughts makes his debut off three recent jump outs and looks to have plenty to offer.
All three heats have been over the 800m at Cranbourne and the son of Snitzel has shown nice improvement on each occasion.
He looked very raw in his second jump out, wanting to get his head to the side but in his latest outing he was a lot more genuine under Jamie Mott.
Mott will do the steering here for Julius Sandhu and barrier five should see him afforded every chance.

Luna Cat was doing her best work late when resuming over 1000m on the Caulfield Heath and she’s sure to relish the rise to 1100m here.
She does rise in grade but meets a similar field and does boast a terrific second up record.
The winkers go back on and she gets a senior rider back in the saddle, with Daniel Stackhouse to do the steering for team Hayes.

Le Farrari was only average when resuming over 1500m on the Caulfield Heath, feeling the pinch late, but he will have taken plenty of benefit from the outing.
Not a noted first up performer, he has won at three of his four second up appearances and the slight drop back to 1400m looks ideal.
The Lindsay Park trained gelding has a terrific record over this distance and looks nicely placed here dropping back in grade.
With the allocation of 61kgs, the team have elected to claim, securing Jaylah Kennedy to do the steering and take 2kgs off.

Down Low has been placed at her past two outings and there was plenty of merit in her most recent run.
Stepping out to 1400m for the first time she endured a tough run three wide without cover and still stuck on gamely to go down by less than a length.
A daughter of Deep Field, she’s only had the nine career runs and was stakes placed at her second and third starts.
She has continued to perform well and looks very progressive.
Barrier four should see her afforded a kinder run throughout under Tom Stockdale, who goes aboard for the Price / Kent team.

Dashing has been racing well and presents hard fit.
Placed in both the Cranbourne Cup and Werribee Cup, the son of Magnus didn’t look to handle the tight Caulfield Heath circuit last time as he lost ground around the home turn but finished off strongly once he was able to balance up.
A very honest galloper, he’s performed consistently throughout his career and the slight rise to 1700m here looks ideal.
Craig Newitt knows him well and will again do the steering for Aaron Purcell.

Inhibitions is racing well and looks nicely placed to make it back to back wins.
The Godolphin mare loomed to win two runs back over 1300m at Newcastle but just couldn’t reel in the leader.
Last start, back to 1200m she settled back off the wide gate and powered home late to score by a long neck, clocking slick time.
She’s got a terrific record over this distance, with four wins and six placings from eleven goes and she boasts solid form around her.
Jamie Mott will take the mount and if he can slot her in and find cover early, she’ll be strong late.

Sweethearted was in a league of his own last start as he broke through for a deserved maiden win at Pakenham.
The runner up at his first two outings, the son of Brave Smash charged late to go down narrowly on debut and he was set a task at his second start but powered home from last around the Valley.
Last time, stepping out in a 3yo BM74, he settled back at the rear but showed a brilliant turn to foot to sweep past them in the straight and score by over two lengths, eased down.
He looks to have plenty of upside and with luck off the wide gate, I think he’ll be too good for them.
