Ten races will be run and won at Eagle Farm this Saturday.

Heavy rain forced the abandonment of their scheduled meeting shortly before the first race was set to kick off last Saturday but thankfully, fine weather this week should see everything go to plan this time around.

The rail will be out 1m for the entire circuit and the track is currently rated a soft 5.

We’ve had a close look at all events on the card and our thoughts can be found below.

Race 1 - 12:13pm AEST

RACECOURSE VILLAGE QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200 METRES)

Space Rider is currently the first emergency for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and if it were to gain a start there, I think he’d be a top hope.

Prepared by the Price / Kent team, the son of Zoustar has just had the one start and was ultra impressive when saluting over this track and trip.

Taken to the front he travelled well and when asked for an effort in the straight, he extended strongly to pull away from them and put up a 3.2 length margin on the line.

With natural improvement he looks hard to beat here and I think class will see him overcome the outside draw.

Race 2 - 12:48pm AEST

STRADBROKE SEASON ON SALE SOON BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (2200 METRES)

Lionel didn’t have the best of luck when resuming for the new stable but he’s sure to have taken improvement from the outing.

Slowly away he settled back second last and tried to pinch runs along the inside and although he found plenty of dead ends, he did finish off well once clear.

Formally prepared by Ciaron Maher, the Lope De Vega gelding failed to fire last campaign but his first up effort a fortnight ago suggests he’s settled in well in his new surroundings.

His lone win came over 2253m at Listed level back in Great Britain when he was second up and he looks ideally placed here stepping out to 2200m.

Martin Harley stays aboard for Peter and Will Hulbert and gate four should see him afforded a cosy run throughout.

Race 3 - 1:23pm AEST

THE GIBSON BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1000 METRES)

Carribean King has been the runner up at his past two appearances, both of which have been in Highway grade at Randwick.

The Sweynesse gelding was given a five week freshen up after pulling up with cardiac arrythmia here back in October and he returned in top order to finish off strongly into second on Melbourne Cup Day

Given another let up, he was very good again, charging late to go down by just the barest of margins.

He lines up here with five weeks since that last run and whilst his record at Eagle Farm isn’t flash, he has had genuine excuses.

Race 4 - 1:58pm AEST

1:58PM SKY RACING BENCHMARK 90 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Kronenbourg has been racing well and is sure to appreciate some weight relief.

The Tony Gollan trained gelding just struggled in the heavy conditions three runs back but bounced back with a solid effort under 61kgs over this course and distance.

Out to 1830m last time, he looked the winner 100m out was just run down late.

However he is hard fit and with three weeks since that last outing, the drop back to the mile will suit.

He’ll relish getting back on a firm track and gets a senior rider back aboard with Jimmy Orman to do the steering.

Race 5 - 2:33pm AEST

BECOME A MEMBER BENCHMARK 80 Handicap (1200 METRES)

Amigo resumed with an encouraging effort for the new stable and he will have taken plenty of benefit from it.

Formally prepared by the Moody / Coleman yard, the son of Snitzel has produced some solid performances against quality opposition and he should find it a bit easier in Queensland.

Kicking off over 1200m at the Sunshine a fortnight ago, he was always wide  but still stuck on gamely to claim third.

He strips fitter for that run and has won second up previously.

Justin Huxtable will take the reins and if he can find his best, I think he’ll be too good for them.

Race 6 - 3:08pm AEST

LADBROKES RACING CLUB Class 2 Plate (1200 METRES)

About To Explode comes off a deserved last start win at the Sunshine Coast and looks well placed to repeat that performance.

The Spirit Of Boom gelding was a touch unlucky at his prior outing, held up approaching the turn in in the early part of the straight, he tried hard over the final part but just couldn’t reel in the eventual winner.

Everything went to plan last time as he found the front 200m out and cleared away from them to score by just under two lengths.

With Maloney sidelined, Martin Harley jumps aboard for Tony Gollan.

Race 7 - 3:47pm AEST

XXXX QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap (1200 METRES)

Toro Strike has returned in top order this campaign and will look to make it three straight.

The Toronado gelding had placed in four of five starts prior to a stable change and he recorded his maiden win in fine style when stepping out for the first time under the care of Jim Mason.

Straight up to a 3YO BM65 and he proved too good again, letting down strongly in the heavy conditions to get the bob in.

He looks very progressive and from the low draw is set to receive every chance under Taylor Marshall.

Race 8 - 4:27pm AEST

MORETON HIRE BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1600 METRES)

Captain Fenkel is racing well and lines up here following a solid last start effort to finish second over 1500m at Randwick.

Sitting just off the leader he travelled sweetly and hit the front 200m out but was just overrun late.

He wasn’t beaten far in two prior runs at stakes level and he looks ideally placed here in BM78 company.

A son of Kermadec, he shown plenty of talent early on and has come back in top order this campaign.

Cejay Graham will do the steering for Marcus Wilson and barrier four should see him afforded every chance.

Race 9 - 5:05pm AEST

5:05PM GIRLS DAY OUT 1 MARCH Class 6 Plate (1400 METRES)

Cunnamulla Fella finished off nicely when resuming over 1300m at the Sunshine Coast and he will have taken plenty of benefit from the run.

The Rob Heathcote trained gelding has recorded four wins from his ten starts and looks a smart horse on the rise.

He has won second up previously and he looks well suited here at the 1400m.

Bailey Wheeler will take 1.5kgs off, which sees him drop 4.5kgs on that first up effort and if he can find cover early, he’s sure to be strong late

1 unit – CUNNAMULLA FELLA

Race 10 - 5:43pm AEST

LADBROKES PUNTER ASSIST BENCHMARK 70 Handicap (1400 METRES)

Boom Shot has been knocking on the door this campaign and if he can overcome the wide draw, I think this is his race.

The Spirit of Boom gelding was very good here two runs back, finishing off strongly into second in the heavy conditions after settling at the tail.

Dropping back to 1300m last time, he sat closer in the run and was again strong to the line.

He’s fit, he’s been the runner up in both starts over the 1400m here and he gets the services of Queensland’s leading rider, Jimmy Orman.
