Warwick Farm will host the Australia Day public holiday metropolitan race meeting this Monday.
Run over 2400m, the Listed Australia Day Cup will headline the eight race program and with fine conditions predicted, it’s sure to be a bumper raceday.
The rail will be in the true position and the track is currently rated a soft 6.
We’ve had a close look at all events on the card and our thoughts can be found below.
Volatile just struggled to let down in the heavy conditions when resuming in the Magic Millions maiden a fortnight ago but he will have taken good improvement from the outing.
Prepared by Peter Snowden, the son of Snitzel has shown good ability but hasn’t had a lot go his way.
Given two trials prior to his return, he looked sharp in a 900m Rosehill heat that he won with plenty in hand.
Tommy Berry stays aboard and with a firmer surface, I think he’s the one to beat.
1 unit – VOLATILE
Bremel will make her race debut and the filly has been ultra impressive in two trial wins.
A daughter of Capitalist, she caught the eye when putting up a four length margin in a 900m heat at Rosehill back in September.
She was given a shake up in the straight but won it comfortably.
Given time she then stepped out in an 800m heat at Hawkesbury earlier this morning and cruised to the line under very little pressure to again put a big space on them and clock the second fastest time of the morning.
Chad Schofield has been aboard in all three trials and he stays in the saddle for Greg MacFarlane.
1 unit – BREMEL
Rach has had two race starts and hasn’t had much luck on either occasion.
Making her debut at Canterbury, she took the traIl behind the leader but had nowhere to go in the straight and was lucky to stay on feet when severely checked.
The Written Tycoon filly then stepped out over 1150m on the Kensington and was held up in the early part of the straight before charging late to go down in a bob of heads.
She presents at peak fitness and the rise to 1400m looks ideal.
2 units – RACH
Darling Downs comes off a solid last start effort at Randwick and looks nicely placed here with the drop back in grade.
Settling in the second half of the field she worked home nicely over the mile to get within 1.4 lengths of the winner in what was, an on pace dominated affair.
Only lightly raced having had the eight starts, she’s always thereabouts and the form around her is stacking up nicely.
With a month since that run, the drop back to 1400m will suit and she gets the services of James McDonald.
1 unit – DARLING DOWNS
The Replicant battled on gamely in heavy conditions here two runs back and he was strong to the line last time on the Kensington.
He lines up here hard fit at his fifth run this campaign and I think it looks a winnable race for him.
Whilst he’s only saluted on the three occasions, he has recorded twenty career placings so he’s certainly not short of ability.
He does perform particularly well here at his home track and Chad Schofield will do the steering for Joe Pride.
1 unit – THE REPLICANT
Seven’s will make his Australian debut.
Prepared by Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, the French import has just had the two race starts and has been victors on both occasions.
His maiden win was over 2100m before saluting over 2000m but he looked sharp enough in a recent 1200m Randwick trial to suggest he’s more than up to this.
He found the line strongly to finish a close second in the heat and whilst he’s sure to improve as he steps out over more ground, the mile first up looks ideal.
With the allocation of 62kgs the team have elected to claim, securing Braith Knock to take 3kgs off.
1 unit – SEVEN’S
Taramansour comes here on the back off a strong win over 2500m at Flemington.
His prior outing saw him track Saltcoats over the 2000m at Randwick where he worked home strongly into fourth but just looked like he was wanting further and that was certainly the case, as he relished to rise in trip last time.
He’s shown good improvement with each run this campaign and holds a very today record over 2400m.
He does rise in grade but drops 2.5kgs and this looks well within this reach.
Jason Collett will take the mount for Phillip Stokes and he’s sure to be strong late.
1 unit – TARAMANSOUR
Wallenda returns to the races and has been gelded since we last saw him raceday.
The four year old son of Trapeze Artist has always shown good ability and boasts solid form around him but has just failed to step up to that next level.
He lines up here off two pleasing jump outs as well as a trial and has found the line well without being pressured.
His best runs have been over the 1000m and if he can produce his best, he’s certainly up to this.
The outside draw poses a challenge but with James McDonald aboard, he’s sure to be afforded every chance.
