Daily Harness Tips – Friday, 31st January

Wagga - Race 8 4:48pm AEDT
No. 9 Our Vincent Can Gogh

Arguably the best placed horse anywhere in Australia this weekend, this Julie Douglas trained runner is an outstanding wagering proposition.

Stepping back monumentally in class, this son of Vincent has faced the best Victoria has to offer of late, finishing an eye-catching fourth two starts ago in the Ballarat Cup behind Bulletproof Boy. His next start saw him finish down the track in staggering time behind Saturday nights Hunter Cup favourite Leap To Fame at Melton.

There are most certainly no Leap To Fames going around in this NR90 event at Wagga on Friday and this gelding gets the plum draw in barrier nine. He is following out the logical leader of this event in Mighty Flying Art, so driver Tasmyn Potter should just have to duck to the sprint lane late and this gelding will be winning. He is out best bet of the weekend.

Newcastle - Race 4 6:52pm AEDT
No. 10 Rogue Bling

The stable star of North-Western based trainer Dwayne Brown, this five-year-old gelding is primed to record another victory this evening.

A gelded son of Bling It On, this gelding has been racing in phenomenal fashion behind outstanding opposition recently, being beaten 8.4 metres by champion pacer Swayzee two starts ago in the feature Tamworth City Cup. He backed up this performance by tuning in with a slashing closing quarter to finish just outside the placegetters behind Vite Monet last start at Menangle.

Drawn ideally in barrier ten, this horse will likely be positioned handily in the running line throughout with Tom Ison steering, and from there he should prove too strong late.

Newcastle - Race 5 7:22pm AEDT
No. 5 Pitch Perfect

Race five on the card at Newcastle sees a fantastic field assemble for the open class pacers, with Pitch Perfect coming out on top for mine.

This now ten-year-old gelding appears to have come back in as good as order as possible this time in, finishing a luckless sixth at Menangle first-up in fast overall time. This run came off the back of two eye-catching trial performances.

Although barrier four may look sticky to the eye, gun driver Robert Morris takes the reins this evening which means this gelding will have every chance to clear the three runners to his inside early. From there, Morris will have a plethora of tactical options, and with even luck this gelding should be winning.
