This member of the Wilberforce based Simon Bigeni Jnr camp has her best chance to record her maiden victory this side of the ditch this evening.
This five-year-old mare has quite simply been a model of consistency since joining the care of Bigeni Jnr, recording an impressive ten top four finishes since debuting in Australia in March 2024. This Art Major mare has been plagued by bad luck this preparation, failing to have everything go right in transit at all of her starts since December.
Her last start at Menangle put the writing on the wall for tonight’s test, being held up until passing the 150m mark, savaging the line late to finish second. Aided by barrier two, driver Jake Bigeni should be able to clear the runner to his inside and release either Sheza Rebel or Supa Dupa Luca, and from there she will take a power of beating.
We head west for out third selection of the day, homing in on Trevor Wright’s grand customer Cordero.
A truly marvellous horse for connections, this diminutive gelding has been racing in stellar fashion of late, with his latest start being significantly better than the numbers suggest. Three starts ago this now nine-year-old gelding recorded a stylish win over 2130m here at headquarters, drawing away to win in brilliant order.
Although drawn the wing in barrier nine, there appears to be a stack of speed underneath this gelding, meaning the race could set up for a backmarker. With Kyle ‘The King’ Harper steering, it is assured this gelding will be afforded every opportunity to get over the top of them late.
Now it takes one courageous analyst to outwardly tip a horse in the opening two-year-old race of the season, especially when one stable has six of the ten runners but here we go anyways!
Trained by an outlier in the Darrell Standen dominated field, North-Western trainer Dwayne Brown has prepared this daughter of Bling It On for impressive trials at Tamworth, winning her second last trial in fantastic order. She made an error at her latest outing, but those prepared to forgive that misdemeanour will be rewarded by the services of Tom Ison in the sulky.
Drawn in what is perhaps not the most ideal barrier down low, if this filly can navigate the first bend well enough to hold a forward position, expect her to be in the heat of the finish late.
We take on the two-year-olds once more for the evening in one of the feature events at GP, marking the pole marker in the filly’s event our Best of The Day anywhere in the country.
Having switched to the powerful Mike Reed stable after debuting in stunning fashion for Shane Tognolini, this daughter of Fly Like An Eagle was the subject of a true plunge for the ages last start; an indicator she is definitely above average.
Drawn one with a stack of natural early speed, the recipe for success over the short course should be simple: You lead, you win. What more needs to be said?
This is our Best Bet of The Day.
