Tip of the Day

We are going to stick strong with this auspicious four-year-old trotting gelding and give him his chance to make amends for last week’s misdemeanour.

Trained by KerryAnn Morris and driven by Josh Gallagher, this gelding had simply been a revelation this preparation prior to last start, putting in enormous runs first and second up for one win. He was back to his old ways seven days ago, going off stride in unison with another runner.

Drawn to press forward over 2300m, this gelding looks the logical leader. From there, if he trots all the way it will take a gargantuan effort to run him down.

Prohibited Love is our Best of The Day.

No. 6 Salute Stride

Another favourite trotter of the Ladbrokes faithful, this Joe and Mary Rando trained gelding is poised to make it two on the bounce.

The now five-year-old gelding saw a return to his usual racing pattern a fortnight ago, leading throughout to score in dominant style at this track and distance. That race was in a similar, if not stronger, event than what he meets today.

Drawn in the same alley as his last start, we can anticipate that this trotter will be put on the burner by Cameron Hart early and take control of the race. With even luck throughout, he should go close to winning.

This pacing filly hails from the KerryAnn Morris stable and looks to have come on in leaps and bounds from her most recent spell.

A horse that has always shown good ability, this three-year-old filly broke her maiden status at attempt twelve at his final start last preparation, scoring in fine order when leading throughout at Penrith. The Art Major filly has had two trials to prepare her for today’s assessment, going over the line under a throttle hold on both occasions.

In a tricky race to work out, there is a strong chance driver Robert Morris is aggressive at the start to take up a forward position. Provided she settles in the first few in running throughout, it is hard to see this filly missing the drum.

A newcomer to the Darren Binskin barn, this former Victorian strikes a more than winnable task first-up.

Formerly trained by Adam Kelly, this gelding has race vastly stronger opposition in most of his Victorian starts and always raced well. He was a strong winner at Melton and Geelong in Victoria before heading north and has trialled in fantastic order ahead of today’s race.

Drawn awkwardly in barrier nine, Binskin will have a decision to make at the start as to whether he heads forward or back, but either way this gelding should be thereabouts late.
