Round 10 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship brings us back across the Atlantic Ocean as the teams prepare to head to the high speed arena that is the Circuit Giles Villeneuve for the Canadian Grand Prix.
A long time staple on the F1 calendar, this is a track with plenty of high speed areas with Max Verstappen dominating this course over the last three years.
The Dutchman has won the last three Canadian Grand Prix races but faces a real challenge to make it four in a row with the McLaren drivers flexing their muscles in Spain a fortnight ago.

Race Winner
The case for Verstappen is simple, he has the speed in the car to compete with the McLarens on this circuit and also the winning pedigree in Montreal.
Not to mention he has taken pole in three of the nine races this season and should be able to find his way on to the front row.
That is the only way he is going to win this race, knowing that another accident could see him miss the next Grand Prix through suspension, which could see him playing it a bit cautiously if he finds himself in traffic early.
And knowing all of that is very much a possibility is why you just can’t back him with confidence in this race.
Oscar Piastri is the man to beat in Formula 1 at the moment and is the deserving favourite.
He needs to keep winning to further open up the gap on Lando Norris in the World Championship standings to ensure that McLaren do not switch their priority to the Brit’s title charge.

Podium Finish
Despite a second place finish in 2024 at this track, this is the race to fade Lando Norris given his struggles in the past.
2019 saw a retirement before a 15th in 2022 and 13th in 2023 and if one of the big three is going to miss out on the podium, it might just be Norris.
Which then opens up the option of a SGM on Piastri and Verstappen both making the podium at over even money.
As for the rest of the field, Charles Leclerc has been showing some steady improvement in the last two races, with a second in Monaco and third in Spain.

Top 6 Finish
It’s fair to say that the last few races have been less than ideal for Kimi Antonelli whose impressive run of top six finishes came to a screeching halt.
The Italian has retired twice in the last three races with an 18th in Monaco the only time he completed a race since Miami.
However he is remains a decent value play in this market with the Mercedes more than capable of keeping him in the mix.

Points Finish
We’ve been waiting all season for Fernando Alonso to get back into the top half of the field and he finally did that in Spain.
The veteran driver secured his first points of the season in Spain and will no doubt be eager to back it up with another top-ten effort this time around.
He has finished in the points here in all three events since F1 returned in 2022 and is well worth a punt at this price.
While Alonso is worth a play based on his history at this event, Pierre Gasly is also worth a shout based on his record over the last few months.
Gasly had picked up points in four of the last five races with a 14th in Spain breaking his streak.
But he is well placed to bounce back here and should get things back on track.

Number of Classified Finishers
There was complete chaos in the 2024 Canadian Grand Prix with five drivers failing to complete the event.
Four of those five are set to start this race once again and as we approach the midseason break, there will be plenty of men desperately trying to secure their seat.
While the weather likely won’t play a huge factor in how this race unfolds, the dry conditions could lead to some proper racing around the circuit and in turn, raise the potential of collisions.
Don’t be surprised if there are a few retirements in this one.
