MIRRA ANDREEVA VS SORANA CIRSTEA
BACK OVER 21.5 TOTAL GAMES @ $1.83

Nineteen-year-old Mirra Andreeva and 36-year-old Sorana Cirstea meet in the first French Open quarterfinal – with both players looming as genuine title threats.

They met for the first time less than two months ago, Andreeva claiming a hard-fought 7-6 6-4 6-2 win on her way to the Linz Open title. Andreeva went on to reach the Madrid Masters final.

A French Open semifinalist in 2024 and a quarterfinalist last year, eighth seed Andreeva has dropped just one set so far in Paris – to Marina Bassols Ribera in the second round – and cruised past Fiona Ferro, Marie Bouzkova and Jil Teichmann.

Cirstea, meanwhile, upset Aryna Sabalenka on her way to the Rome Masters semis and the 18th has maintained her remarkable career-best form surge at Roland Garros with dominant wins over Ksenia Efremova, Eva Lys, Solana Sierra and Wang Xiyu.

The veteran reached grand slam quarterfinals at the 2009 French Open and 2023 US Open.

Andreeva’s impressive clay-court résumé compiled in a short period sees her installed as a $1.57 favourite, but the evergreen Cirstea is playing with such confidence and has nothing to lose. This looks destined to require a deciding set.

ELINA SVITOLINA VS MARTA KOSTYUK
BACK 3 TOTAL SETS @ $2.35

It’s an all-Ukrainian quarterfinal at the French Open with in-form duo Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk squaring off in a blockbuster. Kostyuk won the Madrid Masters, while Svitolina beat three of the top four players in the world to win the Rome Masters.

The compatriots have squared off twice previously for a win apiece. Svitolina won at the 2018 Australian Open, while Kostyuk prevailed at the 2024 Canadian Masters.

Seventh seed Svitolina is into the last eight at Roland Garros for the sixth time, bookending straight-sets wins over Kaitlin Quevedo and Tamara Korspatch with three-set victories against Ana Bondar and 11th seed Belinda Bencic.

Kostyuk, the 15th seed, put away Oksana Selekhmeteva and Viktorija Golubic in straight sets either side of a three-set win over Katie Volynets. But the 23-year-old really stamped her credentials with a 7-5 6-1 thrashing of third seed and four-time champ Iga Swiatek.

That result has helped edge Kostyuk into slight favouritism for this showdown, but Svitolina has made it to four grand slam semis – including the Australian Open earlier this year – and her big-match experience could be telling.

RAFAEL JODAR VS ALEXANDER ZVEREV
SGM – BACK ZVEREV TO WIN AND OVER 37.5 TOTAL GAMES @ $2.55

The new French Open title favourite with Sinner and Djokovic falling by the wayside, second seed Alexander Zverev confronts a tricky quarterfinal assignment against teenaged Spanish sensation Rafael Jodar.

The 2024 Roland Garros runner-up (among three grand slam final appearances), Zverev has had a strong clay swing – reaching the final in Madrid – and has dropped just one set in disposing of Benjamin Bonzi, Tomas Machac, Quentin Halys and Jesper de Jong.

Nineteen-year-old Jodar rocketed into the top 30 by winning a maiden title at the Grand Prix Hassan II, and reaching the semis in Barcelona, and ATP 1000 quarterfinals in Madrid and Rome.

After relatively comfortable wins over Aleksandar Kovacevic and James Duckworth, he’s overcome deficits to win five-setters against Alex Michelsen and Pablo Carreno Busta – all in just his second major.

With a long-awaited slam breakthrough within reach, the pressure is on Zverev to make it count.

But the German’s vast big-match experience and outstanding career record at Roland Garros (going 38-10) should be telling against Jodar, who is yet to claim a scalp as big as Zverev and has spent a lot of time on the court.

JAKUB MENSIK VS JOAO FONESCA
BACK FONESCA TO COVER THE GAMES HANDICAP (-3.5) @ $1.78

Top-30 tyros Jakub Mensik and Joao Fonesca are among the bevy of French Open dark horses in the wide-open men’s draw and lock horns in one of Tuesday’s quarterfinals.

The 2025 Miami Masters champion, 20-year-old Mensik is into his first grand slam quarterfinal. He reached a career-high No.12 in March but slipped to 26th in the rankings by the time he arrived in Paris.

The Czech beat Titouan Droguet in straight sets, and held on in five-setters against Mariano Navone and 11th seed Andrey Rublev either side of a four-set defeat of eighth seed Alex de Minaur.

Appearing in only his sixth major, 19-year-old Fonesca has taken down an even higher calibre of opponent on his way to the last eight.

The 28th seed cruised past Luka Pavlovic in straight sets, outlasted in-form Dino Prizmic in five sets, then came from two sets down to upset third seed Novak Djokovic. The Brazilian then defeated 15th seed and two-time French Open runner-up Casper Ruud 7-5 7-6 5-7 6-2.

The pair’s only previous meeting was at the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals. Fonesca got up in five sets (each of which went to a tiebreak) and has been installed as a $1.50 favourite here.

Both have shown remarkable grit and maturity to climb out of some tight spots against some of tennis’ biggest names, but Fonesca’s wins over proven Roland Garros superstars Djokovic and Ruud make a more compelling case ahead of this fascinating showdown.
