San Antonio Spurs
vs
New York Knicks
Thursday 4th June 10:40 AM (Frost Bank Center)
Tip: Spurs to Cover (-4.5)
Game 1

One of the most anticipated Finals series in sometime between a fanatical, tortured fan base, and a young up and comer that has arrived on the big stage much earlier than most expected.

The big storyline heading into Game 1 is how the Knicks plan to guard Victor Wembanyama. Double teams are a given, but whether it’s a mix of Karl Anthony-Towns and OG Anunoby – or someone else entirely – remains to be seen.

Wemby played an almost flawless series against the Thunder, and aside from maybe needing to grab a few more defensive rebounds, it’s almost impossible to fault the form he’s in right now.

Elsewhere, the Spurs are playing with a genuine sense of belief that we haven’t seen in some time.

Injuries to De’Aaron Fox looked likely to cost San Antonio in the previous round, although it helps when key role players like Julian Champagnie come up clutch in big moments and games.

Looking ahead, Game 1 is a genuine coin flip. Whether the extra rest helps or hinders the Knicks is the big question, especially with the Spurs likely looking to slow down the pace and execute from half court.

New York has to find a way to limit Wemby down one end of the court, but with enormous depth and some clean play that has seen them limit turnover, I like them to kick off this series at home with a win.
