Redcliffe Harness Preview – Thursday 18th June

Redcliffe Harness Preview – Thursday 18th June

Thursday’s nine-race card at The Triangle is broken down by Redcliffe expert Oli Cownie.

Race 1

STRAIGHTNNARROW (3) he was given no peace last time he led when taken on throughout by a horse that went on to be well beaten. If he can find the lead and control things this time he should be very hard to run down out in front.

QILIN (6) was able to lead two starts ago and was run down by Moonshine Milly late who has always shown ability. He then had plenty go wrong last time out and can be forgiven for being well beaten. He should run a better race.

STUNNING STRANGER (4) made a break in the score up last time out and was forced to chase the gate before driving through and working to the lead. He did well to keep kicking there and win. He draws less favourably this time and may need to do some work in the run.

ALLSHECANBE (5) found the leaders back last time out and was able to run second to Threefiveone not beaten far. She hasn’t started for over a month which looks a query and she also draws wide.

SELECTIONS: STRAIGHTNNARROW (3), QILIN (6), STUNNING STRANGER (4), ALLSHECANBE (5)

SUGGESTED BET:  STRAIGHTNNARROW (3) to win.

Two back was well beaten into seventh behind Roman Charlie at Albion Park over 1660m on June 4 at $31. Then a handy effort when beaten by 5.5 m finishing third after being driven well back, behind Rainbow Feels at this track over 1780m on June 12 at $3.70.

Race 2

LUSTRE (3) drops out of a much stronger race last time out at Albion Park where the winner rated fast time in Kash Fund. This looks a huge drop in grade from her recent outings and she draws the best of the main chances. She can lead and be hard to run down.

SMOKING SHANNON (5) begins her QLD campaign in this race bringing moderate NSW form into this race. She got back in the run last time out and over raced before running into midfield late.

DESIGNER JEWEL (6) was well driven three starts ago to nab the leaders back and was able too prove too good there. She took on a much stronger race last start which was taken out by Shankys Shot and should appreciate the step back into an easier race.

MIGHTY CRUNCH (8) was able to lead and control things last start at this track and distance proving too good for a reasonable field there. He then took on a much stronger race last start and was beaten a long way by James Alfred. He can look to bounce back.

SELECTIONS: LUSTRE (3), SMOKING SHANNON (5), DESIGNER JEWEL (6), MIGHTY CRUNCH (8)

SUGGESTED BET: LUSTRE (3) to win.

Recent efforts haven’t been up to her best. Last start was well back in the run when 8th (Fr7) over 1660m at Albion Park, beaten 16 m by Kash Fund (1:57.30) on June 11 at $81. The run prior was driven from back in the field when 7th (Fr6) over 1660m at Albion Park beaten 30 m by Magic Miki (1:54.50) in 2-3yo+ on June 2 at $101. Worth another chance.

Race 3

LITTLE WHIPPET (1) took on a stronger race last start when getting out late and finishing powerfully into third behind Lower West Side. He seems to lack gate speed particularly when drawing 1 which could see him shuffled back in the early stages.

VICTREE BUSTA (2) was able to show good gate speed to lead two starts ago and rated good time when beaten by the in form Dusty Muster at this track. He finds a suitable race where he may be able to work to the lead early and should be hard to run down.

BLACK GEMSTONE (6) got back two starts ago before running on strongly late into third behind Piscina and Pinkchampagne. She looks likely to be shuffled back again from a wide gate but should be suited by the 2040 journey and potentially genuine early tempo.

WEE BONNIE (3) did plenty of work through various stages of the race last time out when finishing second behind The Real Vanessa. She draws reasonably in this race and shouldn’t be too far away.

SELECTIONS: LITTLE WHIPPET (1), VICTREE BUSTA (2), BLACK GEMSTONE (6), WEE BONNIE (3)

SUGGESTED BET: LITTLE WHIPPET (1) to win.

Solid run when a close second behind Malarky at this track over 2040m on June 3 at $21. Then a handy effort when beaten by 7 m finishing third behind Lower West Side at this track over 1780m on June 10 at $12.

Race 4

OPALLANE (7) was able to secure a good run close to the speed last time out at Albion Park when running on into third behind Schooners. He draws awkwardly inside the back row but appears to have a class edge on his rivals in this race. He should be hard to beat.

ROMAN CHARLIE (6) secured a good run last time out in a race won by the leader Kash Fund in fast time. He had led his start prior and was a comfortable winner. If he can work to the lead again in this race he should be hard to beat.

STAY DREAMY (5) was driven quietly last time out before running on strongly over the top of Windy Hill Whiskey. She should get a good run off the speed again in this race and can be running on late.

THE TORQUE EFFECT (1) was first up for nearly a month last time out when running into dead ends in a race taken out by the very smart Shankys Shot in fast time. She appears to have place claims with the right run.

SELECTIONS: OPALLANE (7), ROMAN CHARLIE (6), STAY DREAMY (5), THE TORQUE EFFECT (1)

SUGGESTED BET: ROMAN CHARLIE (6) to win.

Failed to impress last start; 5th (Fr4) over 1660m at Albion Park beaten 14 m by Kash Fund (1:57.30) on June 11 at $3. Showed ability the race before when he posted a big 4.5 m win when quickly away, (Fr4) at Albion Park (1:58.30) beating Bennydasook in on June 4 at $6.

Race 5

SAMMYS SECRET (2) has been building nicely since returning from a spell running two thirds before having less luck in his latest outing. He has reasonable gate speed and can look to hold a forward position from the good draw.

BEACH MAGIC (9) sat without cover last time out at this track racing over the 2040 he over raced badly before hitting the lead and being run down late. He looks suited stepping back in trip into this race and can be put into the race at the right time.

KEAYANG TARA (4) got shuffled back last time out before working into the clear and hitting the line strongly late. She is never too far away in this type of grade. She looks likely to be shuffled back early and should be running on strongly late.

COPY WRITER (3) drew poorly last start at Marburg before hitting the line strongly late to finish fifth beaten just a length behind Gotta Dream. She should settle closer and can run well.

SELECTIONS: SAMMYS SECRET (2), BEACH MAGIC (9), KEAYANG TARA (4), COPY WRITER (3)

SUGGESTED BET: BEACH MAGIC (9) to win.

Race 6

LOVIN MISS DIXIE (2) has very good early speed and should be able to zip across and find the front in this race. She made up strong ground two starts ago after getting shuffled a long way back in the early stages. She looks to have found a suitable race.

SHEEZ GOT TORQUE (4) worked into the race nicely last time out and just got a touch tired late when fading into fourth behind Vinnie Nitro who has since won again. She draws a touch awkwardly and is first up for over a month.

GRACENAVA (8) worked to the lead three starts ago and was able to prove way too good at Albion Park. She didn’t have the best of luck last time out at Marburg in a race taken out by her stablemate Rocktime.

LAST CALL (6) was able to lead two starts ago and was just run down late over the 2040 by Dusty Muster who has been in excellent form. She caught the eye last start when getting back and flashing into it late. She should be suited in this company and looks dangerous if the race is run to suit.

SELECTIONS: LOVIN MISS DIXIE (2), SHEEZ GOT TORQUE (4), GRACENAVA (8), LAST CALL (6)

SUGGESTED BET: LOVIN MISS DIXIE (2) to win.

Last start was well back in the run when 9th (Fr3) over 1660m at Albion Park, beaten 10 m by Candykane (2:00.30) in 3yo+ on June 9 at $6.50. Before that, a good run when 2nd (Sr1) over 1780m at this track, beaten 2.5 m by Fifty Three Stars (2:10.60) in 3yo+ on May 27 at $61. Rates highly.

Race 7

ROCKIN SWEET (8) was left without cover last time out when battling on well to finish fourth in a race taken out by a horse that’s been in excellent form in Dusty Muster. He should be suited by the soft trailing draw and should get a good run through behind a gate speed horse. He can be hard to beat.

SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (9) handed up to a horse which handed over itself and shuffled him back on the pegs before he was dragged out of the race by the horse he handed up to. He appeared to run through the line well late and should be hard to beat in a slightly easier race.

ROSEANNE RUBY (2) has excellent gate speed and may be able to zip across and lead in the early stages. She wasn’t suited last time out when left without cover at Albion Park.

MILLIONDOLLAR KISS (1) starts first up in this race having done her recent racing in NSW. She trialled up nicely at this track scoring well and is likely to have derived benefit from that outing.

SELECTIONS: ROCKIN SWEET (8), SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (9), ROSEANNE RUBY (2), MILLIONDOLLAR KISS (1)

SUGGESTED BET: ROCKIN SWEET (8) to win.

Race 8

JUDAH RED (1) took on a stronger race last time out won by Rakasandy who was able to control things in the lead making it difficult for the back markers to get into the race. He drops back slightly in company and draws favourably. He has run well in front before and should be hard to beat.

KERBANG (7) should get a good run through in the early stages behind a horse likely to be keen to hold a forward position in Judah Red. He hit the line well late when finishing second to Windy Hill Wally at this track in fast time.

COOL DUDE JOEY (2) has been in excellent form. He was very good last time out when sitting without cover and battling on very well for fifth not beaten far in a race taken out by Jaccka Cooper who has been in good form. He should secure a good run from a favourable draw in this race.

SPLASHNDASH (4) was able to lead recently at Albion Park and was able to prove a dominant winner there leading all the way. He appears to draw a touch awkwardly this time but should find a prominent position in the run and will be thereabouts again.

SELECTIONS: JUDAH RED (1), KERBANG (7), COOL DUDE JOEY (2), SPLASHNDASH (4)

SUGGESTED BET: KERBANG (7) each way.

Two back was well beaten into ninth behind John Wayne at this track over 2040m in a 3yo+ on June 5 at $9.50. Then a handy effort when a close second behind Windy Hill Wally at this track over 1780m in a 3yo+ on June 12 at $14.

Race 9

REASON TO PARTY (5) drew outside the back row last time out and didn’t have the clearest passage on the way home when flashing into second late. With a touch more luck in the run this time he should be very hard to beat in this company.

SATELLITE SIMBA (8) has been racing well in NSW. He sat without cover two starts ago at Bathurst and was able to battle on nicely for second there. He should get a good run through in this race and can be running on late.

HEZA MAYWYN (10) ran very well first up from a spell last start when flashing into second behind Shereacts. That first up effort backed up a nice effort in a recent trial and he should be better for that trial effort and race start.

SHES IN LINE (9) took on a strong race last time out won by Princess Arna at Albion Park. She looks better suited in this company back to Redcliffe.

SELECTIONS: REASON TO PARTY (5), SATELLITE SIMBA (8), HEZA MAYWYN (10), SHES IN LINE (9)

SUGGESTED BET: SATELLITE SIMBA (8) each way.
