Every NRL Club’s Point-Scoring Record Holder

Every NRL Club’s Point-Scoring Record Holder

Dolphins winger Jamayne Isaako on another point-scoring tear in 2026, racking up 180 points in just 14 games so far.

The NRL’s leading scorer in 2023 and ’25, Isaako is already 35 points clear of his nearest rival – and if he maintains his current strike-rate he will coast past his Dolphins club record and become only the second player in history to reach 300 points during the regular season.

This week, we chart the history of every club’s most points in a season record.

Brisbane Broncos: 272 – Darren Lockyer (1998)

On a fast-track to superstardom, 21-year-old fullback Lockyer became the first Broncos player to pass 200 points in a season in 1998. His tally of 272 included 19 tries and smashed the previous record held by Julian O’Neill (193 in 1995) – as well as being the fourth-highest total in history at the time.

Jamayne Isaako’s rookie-season effort of 239 points in 2018 is the closest any Bronco has come to Lockyer’s mark, while Michael De Vere and Adam Reynolds have broken 200 points for the club once each.

Canberra Raiders: 296 – Jarrod Croker (2016)

Clinton Schifcofske scored 245 points in 2001 to break Gary Belcher’s 13-year-old record (218 points). Centre sharpshooter Croker came close with 226 points in 2012 and 236 points in 2015, before obliterating the record in 2016.

The Raiders fell a game short of the grand final, denying Croker the opportunity to crack the 300-point mark – but his tally from 18 tries and 112 goals will take some beating.

Canterbury Bulldogs: 342 – Hazem El Masri (2004)

El Masri equalled Daryl Halligan’s 1994 club record when he scored 270 points in 2001 – the first season after Halligan retired – then broke Ivan Cleary’s premiership record with 294 points in 2003.

A year later, the popular winger annihilated his own mark the following season with a mind-blowing 342 points from 16 tries and 139 goals (another record).

El Masri and Halligan occupy the top eight lines on the Bulldogs’ most points in a season leaderboard, followed by Steve Gearin’s 244 points in 1979.

Cronulla Sharks: 251 – Brett Kimmorley (2002)

Second-rower George Taylforth’s tally of 202 points stood as a Cronulla record for three decades, with Mat Rogers finally passing it 2000 with 212 points.

Brett Kimmorley was a somewhat unlikely record-breaker in his first season at the Sharks two years later with 251 points – the next-most points he scored in a 16-year career was just 92 in 2004.

Nicho Hynes has come the closest to challenging Kimmorley, racking up 228 points last season.

Dolphins: 278 – Jamayne Isaako (2025)

Isaako has scored more than 80 percent of the Dolphins’ points since their 2023 NRL entry.

The Kiwi winger set a formidable record that year with 244 (the most ever for a club in its first season), racked up 223 in 2024 and smashed his own mark with 278 points last year.

But if he stays fit, that record is almost certain to fall again in 2026…and the Dolphins have a conundrum replacing the Melbourne-bound flyer’s prowess next year, given no other player in the club’s short history has kicked more than two goals.

Gold Coast Titans: 182 – Scott Prince (2009)

Perhaps reflective of the club’s lack of success in 20 seasons, the Titans’ pointscoring record is easily the lowest in the NRL.

Prince scored seven tries and 77 goals as the Titans surged into the top four in 2009. He scored 151 points the following season, while Aiden Sezer (2013), Jamal Fogarty (2021) and Jayden Campbell (2025) have edged past the 150-point mark since.

Manly Sea Eagles: 334 – Reuben Garrick (2021)

Ron Rowles (221 points in 1954), Graham Eadie (242 points in 1975) and Matthew Ridge (257 points in 1995) all held Manly’s points in a season record for 20-plus years.

Garrick had managed 194 points in his 2019 rookie season, but his record-shattering exploits – tallying the second-most points in premiership history from 23 tries and 121 goals – caught most by surprise.

Since then, the underrated centre’s best effort is 202 points in 2024, while Jamal Fogarty’s arrival this year has seen Garrick share the goalkicking duties.

Melbourne Storm: 242 – Matt Geyer (1999)

For all Melbourne’s dominance over the past two decades, their points in a season record – set by utility-back Geyer (whose total included 20 tries) in the club’s second year – seems relatively modest.

Cameron Smith has scored more points than any player in premiership history, but his highest season tally was only 216 points in 2019 (not aided by the fact he averaged less than three tries a year).

Nick Meaney threatened the record in recent years, scoring 222 points in 2023 and 232 points in 2024.

Newcastle Knights: 279 – Andrew Johns (2001)

Johns broke the Knights’ club record in his 1994 rookie season with 162 points and broke it again in 1995 (194 points) and 2000 (200 points) – before threatening Ivan Cleary’s then-premiership record in 2001, despite playing only 21 games.

‘Joey’ and Northern Eagles’ Ben Walker both scored 279 points in 2001, the equal-third-most in a season at the time.

Johns boasts the eight highest season tallies in Newcastle’s history – Kurt Gidley’s 160 points in 2009 is the next best effort.

North Queensland Cowboys: 266 – Valentine Holmes (2024)

Cowboys legend Johnathan Thurston belatedly edged past Josh Hannay’s club record (230 points in 2003) with 234 points in 2014.

Holmes passed ‘JT’s’ mark during the 2022 finals, setting a new record at 244 points, then did the same during the 2024 playoffs to finish with a competition-leading 266.

Parramatta Eels: 282 – Michael Cronin (1978)

Pointscoring machine centre Cronin knocked Souths’ Eric Simms off top spot in the premiership’s record book in his third season in Sydney, powering to 282 points from 16 tries and 117 goals in 1978.

‘The Crow’ came desperately close to bettering his own mark in 1982 – scoring 279 points – and eventually passed Simms as the greatest pointscorer in first-grade history, finishing with 1,971.

Cronin still boasts five of the top six highest tallies in Eels history; Jason Taylor (another one-time most points in premiership history record-holder) sits third via his career-high 265 points in his sole 2001 season at the club.

Penrith Panthers: 270 – Michael Gordon (2010)

Nathan Cleary is the greatest pointscorer in Penrith’s history and won’t be far off 2,000 points by season’s end, but his best tally in a year is only 231 points – the second-most by a Panther.

Michael Gordon’s 16 tries and 103 goals in 2010 for the second-placed Panthers saw him breeze past Ryan Girdler’s 1999 haul of 229 points.

South Sydney Rabbitohs: 265 – Eric Simms (1969)

Champion fullback Simms obliterated the Souths club record (Bernie Purcell’s 172 points in 1955) with 233 points in 1967. He then broke Dave Brown’s long-standing premiership record (244 points in 1935) in 1969 – helped by kicking 19 field goals, then worth two points, to go with 112 goals.

Adam Reynolds nearly broke the Rabbitohs’ record in 2021, scoring 260 points at they reached the grand final. Between them, Simms and Reynolds boast the 11 highest points in a season tallies.

St George Illawarra Dragons: 234 – Jamie Soward (2009)

Arguably the breakout star of 2009 as St George Illawarra surged to the minor premiership in Wayne Bennett’s first season, Soward scored 12 tries, 90 goals and six field goals to beat Mark Riddell’s club record, set in 2003, by 68 points.

Gareth Widdop (205 points in 2018) is the only other player to score 200 points in a season for the joint venture.

Sydney Roosters: 284 – Ivan Cleary (1998)

A second-string goalkicker at Manly and Norths due to the presence of Matthew Ridge and Jason Taylor, respectively, Cleary proved himself as one of the competition’s best after joining Sydney City in 1996.

In his third season at Bondi, the centre/fullback eclipsed Mick Cronin’s premiership record with a late conversion from out wide in the Roosters’ heavy preliminary final defeat to the Broncos. Mike Eden (256 points in 1983) was the previous Roosters record-holder.

James Maloney (twice), Todd Carney and Latrell Mitchell (twice) have all scored 248 points or more for the club since, with Mitchell getting close to Cleary with 273 points in 2019.

Warriors: 242 – Ivan Cleary (2002)

The only player to sit atop two current clubs’ most points in a season leaderboards, Cleary’s 173 points in 2001 was a Warriors record and he advanced that considerably the following season as they took out the minor premiership and reached the grand final – after which he hung up the boots.

James Maloney (206 points in 2011) is the only other Warrior to have passed 200 points in a season. The club’s greatest pointscorer, Shaun Johnson, could manage no more than 177 points in a single campaign (2013).

Wests Tigers: 308 – Brett Hodgson (2005)

A year after Hazem El Masri became the first player to break the 300-point barrier, wiry fullback Hodgson smashed through the milestone as the Tigers stormed to unlikely premiership glory.

Hodgson’s monster tally included an all-time finals series record of 58 points.

Joel Caine’s 224 points in the joint venture’s initial 2000 season remains second in Tigers history, while Benji Marshall topped 200 points for the club twice.
