Marburg Harness Preview – Sunday, 28th June

Marburg Harness Preview – Sunday, 28th June

Harness guru Oli Cownie has run the rule over all seven races at Marburg this Sunday to help you finish the week on a high.

Race 1

OUR ULTIMATE HEIDI (1) was well beaten last start by Sweet Times but that looks a good form reference for a race of this nature drawn ideally. She led two starts ago and was well beaten by Berrylicious and Diva Bon Viva. She should be hard to run down.

OUR ULTIMATE BEATY (7) raced without luck last time out at Marburg when nabbing the leaders back early before being badly held up in the concluding stages in a race taken out by Vera Aguilera.

KIPCHOGE (2) travelled nicely through the run on pegs before working into the clear and ran a very good race to not be beaten far. He is likely to have derived plenty of benefit from the outing and should secure a good run in this race from an ideal draw.

BETTY WINKLE (3) secured a good run last time out and was beaten a long way in a race a lot of her main rivals contested last start. She doesn’t look a genuine hope of winning this race but could run fourth or fifth with the right trip in the race.

SELECTIONS: OUR ULTIMATE HEIDI (1), OUR ULTIMATE BEATY (7), KIPCHOGE (2), BETTY WINKLE (3)

SUGGESTED BET: OUR ULTIMATE HEIDI (1) to win.

Last start was well back in the run when 4th (Fr5) over 1780m at Redcliffe beaten 17 m by Sweet Times (2:11.20) in 2yo on June 24 at $34. Before that, 4th (Fr1) over 1780m after showing early pace at Redcliffe, beaten 17 m by Berrylicious (2:12.60) on June 12 at $3.20. Drawn nicely and should run well.

Race 2

TIGER SHIRL (4) was left without cover last start in a race taken out by Quik Change. She drops right back in class into this race and draws the best of the main chances. She should be able to work to the lead and would be very hard to run down from there.

MIARKA (6) was caught wide early before being shuffled back in a race the winner The Luvbug rated good time. She should secure an economical run on the pegs just behind the speed and should be running into it late.

LANEYS LAST (8) got back in the run and was finishing off well into fourth. She draws poorly again in this race and may be shuffled a long way back. She should be running on again.

WICKED MACK (1) comes into this race fourth up from a spell and should be nearing peak fitness. He secured a good run last time out close to the speed and was well beaten behind stablemate Whata Good Feeling.

SELECTIONS: TIGER SHIRL (4), MIARKA (6), LANEYS LAST (8), WICKED MACK (1)

SUGGESTED BET: TIGER SHIRL (4) to win.

Race 3

MAJOR MISCHIEF (4) was forced to do some work in the early stages last start to get across to the breeze which may have been the difference in the end with only a small margin in it late. He should appreciate the step back in trip and can look to breeze and go well again.

ESTIVAL (1) showed good gate speed last start to lead and was really able to control things through the early part of the race before holding them off late. She can lead again and if she can control things again early she should give a good kick.

GHOST TRAIN (6) seems to be best when driven quietly early at this stage of his career which he should be able to do in this race. He did lead and run a good race two starts ago at Redclifffe.

COPY WRITER (9) raced without luck last start behind Rocknroll Da Gama when being forced to make a wide run into it. She is likely to get back in the run again and should be running into it late.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR MISCHIEF (4), ESTIVAL (1), GHOST TRAIN (6), COPY WRITER (9)

SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR MISCHIEF (4) to win.

Two back was beaten by 8 m finishing fifth behind Take Courage at Redcliffe over 2040m in a 3yo+ on June 12 at $18. Then a handy effort when a close second behind Tapthekeg at this track over 2200m in a 3yo+ on June 21 at $2.15. Nice effort last time. Capable of featuring.

Race 4
Each Way

GRACENAVA (1) has good gate speed and should be able to drive through and lead in the early stages. She was able to lead four starts ago and scored a dominant win over the 2138 at Albion Park.

MILLIEWOOD (6) is likely to get a good run through behind the potential leader. She secured a similar type of run two starts ago when finishing third behind her stablemate Shereacts. She has had over a month between runs which does appear a query coming into this race.

ROLLYARRRZ (5) made a break last time out which leaves him ODM for this race. He appears very well graded dropping back into this company and despite the wide draw with luck in the run he can be thereabouts.

MULLUM DOC (9) draws poorly and comes into this race first up from a spell. He will need the race run to suit but if it is he can be running into it late.

SELECTIONS: GRACENAVA (1), MILLIEWOOD (6), ROLLYARRRZ (5), MULLUM DOC (9)

SUGGESTED BET: MILLIEWOOD (6) each way.

Last start 6th (Sr1) over 1780m at Redcliffe beaten 12 m by Pretty Little Liar (2:11.70) in 3yo+ on May 1 at $5. Before that, a good run when 3rd (Sr1) over 1850m at this track, beaten 3 m by Shereacts (2:16.40) in 3yo+ on April 26 at $3.90. Can do much better this time.

Race 5
Each Way

STUDLEIGH MARK (2) has very good gate speed and should be able to find a prominent position in the early stages of the race. He was left to do the work outside the leader last start in a race won by Merry Jewel and he was able to battle away well for second there.

COPPERFIELD (6) should get a good run through in the early stages of the race. Was forced to race outside the leader last start and was beaten by a horse he takes on again in this race Belmer Betty. He should secure a more economical run this time and can be running on late if gaps appear at the right time.

BELMER BETTY (1) has reasonable gate speed and may be able to drive through before having options from there. She has seemingly shown her best this campaign when driven with cover and over the 2200 she may elect to take a sit on Studleigh Mark.

B MAC C (8) zoomed around the outside to take up the lead when there was a mid race shuffle up at this track. He draws to do no work early again in this race and can use his speed to get into it late.

SELECTIONS: STUDLEIGH MARK (2), COPPERFIELD (6), BELMER BETTY (1), B MAC C (8)

SUGGESTED BET: COPPERFIELD (6) each way.

Freshened-up since the last run 37 days ago. Not far away at the last couple starts; Finished a narrow second behind Belmer Betty at Albion Park over 2138m 3yo+ last start. Before that was beaten 2.5 metres fourth again at Albion Park over 1660m same class on April 30. Form sound and expected to measure up.

Race 6

SPLASHNDASH (3) has the draw advantage on a number of his key rivals in this race and is likely to look to hold that advantage. He was well beaten last start but was forced to race without cover. He can bounce back.

MYNAMESEVAN (5) appears to be dropping back in grade a touch into this race but does draw widest. He got back in the run three starts ago and flashed into third late. He may need to work at some stage or could be left with a lot to do late.

I OF A HURRIKANE (6) led last start over the 2138 in a strong field at Albion Park. He draws awkwardly inside the back row in this race and will need to get into the clear at the right time.

MY PURPLE PATCH (8) got shuffled a long way back last start and couldn’t get into the race there at Albion Park. This race looks a touch easier and he can bounce back.

SELECTIONS: SPLASHNDASH (3), MYNAMESEVAN (5), I OF A HURRIKANE (6), MY PURPLE PATCH (8)

SUGGESTED BET: SPLASHNDASH (3) to win.

Recent form below what he is capable of. Backing up quickly after 10th (Fr5) over 1660m after racing wide at Albion Park beaten 16 m by Dee Terror (1:58.60) in 3yo+ on June 25 at $41. The run prior was well back in the run when 9th (Fr4) over 1780m after racing wide at Redcliffe, beaten 17 m by Judah Red (2:08.00) in 3yo+ on June 18 at $19. Has ability and can do much better.

Race 7
Each Way

AUNTY FRANCES (1) has good gate speed and should be able to hold the lead. Came from back in the field three starts ago at Albion Park and was able tp prove too good there. She should run well again.

WANDARY DELIGHT (6) draws ideally in this race inside the back row to follow the likely leader. She ran a very good race recently at this track when leading and dashing home a quick last quarter.

IDEAL TIGER (7) drew poorly last start and hit the line well in a race taken out by Doolittle Doozzie. He should get a good run through in the early stages and can be running on late.

YOGI (2) found the front three starts ago at Albion Park and battled on fairly there to finish fifth. He ran a better race two starts ago when finishing off strongly into second behind Rocknroll Da Gama. He can be running on well again.

SELECTIONS: AUNTY FRANCES (1), WANDARY DELIGHT (6), IDEAL TIGER (7), YOGI (2)

SUGGESTED BET: WANDARY DELIGHT (6) each way.

Last start 4th (Sr2) over 1850m at this track beaten 3 m by Specialandiknowit (2:16.70) in 3yo+ on June 21 at $12. Two runs back posted a big 9 m win as favourite after showing early speed, (Fr1) overraced, at this track (2:18.60) beating Yogi in 3yo+ on June 7 at $1.60. Capable of taking this out.
