Daily Racing Tips – Saturday 8th August

Our Daily Racing Tips for Saturday cover Randwick, Caulfield Heath and Eagle Farm, with a Missile Stakes tip included in a big day of racing.

The race analysis looks at the key runners, main winning chances and best betting opportunities across all three meetings.

Randwick Race 7 – PREMIER’S CUP PRELUDE (1800 METRES)
No. 5 Tazima

TAZIMA (5) is absolutely airborne, having won four of his past five starts.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding is unbeaten over this course and distance, including a tough win two starts back where he had to dig deep late.

He was even more impressive last start, letting down strongly to win by two lengths, with 3.43 lengths back to third.

From the inside barrier, he maps to get every favour for James McDonald and looks hard to knock.

Randwick Race 8 – GROUP 2 KIA ORA STUD MISSILE STAKES (1200 METRES)
No. 1 Angel Capital

ANGEL CAPITAL (1) resumes from a luckless sixth in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes, where he never got clear air and went to the line with plenty to offer.

The Chris Waller-trained entire is excellent fresh, having won four of his five first-up runs.

He looks very well placed under the set weights conditions of the Missile Stakes, especially given he is four rating points higher than his nearest rival.

With good speed engaged, James McDonald should be able to settle just behind the tempo and give him every chance to finish over the top.

Eagle Farm Race 9 – LADBROKES HOSTED POTS OPEN Handicap (1400 METRES)
No. 1 Anemacore

ANEMACORE (1) looks well placed to send us home with a win, and for that reason I am making him my best bet on the card.

The Shaun Dwyer-trained gelding drew the outside barrier over this course and distance last start and found himself a long last before storming home to finish second, beaten just under a length.

That followed a neck third in the Listed Glasshouse Handicap, so he is primed for a massive performance.

He has not drawn this well for some time, and I would expect Michael Rodd to settle closer in the run.

Caulfield Heath Race 8 – Ranvet Travis Harrison Cup (1800 METRES)
No. 8 First Chorus

FIRST CHORUS (7) has clearly put the foot abscess issues from earlier in the preparation behind her and is now chasing a hat-trick.

The Lindsey Smith-trained mare was tough winning over 1700m two starts ago before dropping back to the mile at Caulfield last start and winning with real authority. She enjoyed a soft run on speed, took over in the straight and powered clear to score by 2.25 lengths in BM100 company.

She now steps up to 1800m, which looks suitable given how strongly she went through the line last start.

She gets in with a light weight again and looks well placed to give this a serious shake.
