Albion Park Harness Preview – Saturday 15th August

Albion Park Harness Preview – Saturday 15th August

Saturday night harness heads back to The Creek, where Oli Cownie has done the form for all nine races on the Albion Park card.

Race 1

SPIRIT OF ANARCHY (5) has been extremely impressive since landing in the stable of Matt Elkins completing a hat-trick of wins last time out. He was forced to do plenty of work last time out before eventually finding the front and was able to just keep kicking to score rating 1.50.4. He finds another suitable and should be very hard to beat.

BLACKJACK CRIPPA (1) has the good draw in this race which should allow him to secure a good run on the pegs. He drew poorly last time out at this track and couldn’t get into the race which was taken out by stablemate Race For Riches.

FLYING COLOURS (8) should get a good run through early behind a horse which is likely to be keen to hold a prominent position. He was forced to race without cover last time out at Redcliffe and battled on strongly there for third behind Hes Sweet who had a soft run in the race.

MISTER MANAGER (10) was sent around to the breeze last time out before applying strong pressure to the lead and was just nabbed late by Race For Riches who had the perfect run on his back. He should secure a good run off the speed and should be running on late.

SELECTIONS: SPIRIT OF ANARCHY (5), BLACKJACK CRIPPA (1), FLYING COLOURS (8), MISTER MANAGER (10)

SUGGESTED BET: SPIRIT OF ANARCHY (5) to win.

Race 2

BRAVENTREACHEROUS (11) is a horse with a brilliant turn of foot and showed that again last time out when getting back in the run and flashing into second behind Smarter Than You. Securing a soft run off the speed in this race he could be suited by the step up to 2138 and finds a race which should generate good early speed.

MIKI B (2) has gate speed and could work his way to the lead in the early stages of this race. He hasn’t raced with a lot of luck in QLD but was able to win two starts ago when leading all the way to beat Greased Lightning. He should be hard to beat.

DREAMALITTLEDREAM (9) seems to be a horse with very high speed showing that two starts ago when able to sprint up sharply to run down The Lady Dior who had controlled things out in front. She could be suited in this race driven with a sit and should be running on late.

ALWAYS BE CHAPS (5) had a tough run last time out when sitting without cover and battling on well for fourth behind Rakasandy who has since won again. He looks to draw awkwardly in this race but should be able to press forward and find a prominent position and should be in the finish again.

SELECTIONS: BRAVENTREACHEROUS (11), MIKI B (2), DREAMALITTLEDREAM (9), ALWAYS BE CHAPS (5)

SUGGESTED BET: BRAVENTREACHEROUS (11) to win.

Two back was well beaten into fourth behind Final Deadline at this track over 2138m in a 4yo G3 on July 18 at $34. Then a handy effort when beaten by 2.25 m finishing second after being driven well back, behind Smarter Than You at this track over 1660m in a 4yo+ on August 8 at $8. Should go well despite the tough draw.

Race 3

DARIN (1) put in a great run in the consolation of the Inter Dominion when securing a good run on the pegs before powering to the lead and just being run down late by Call To Order. He has gate speed and draws well in this race which gives him options early.

FRENCH FRIES (4) led last time out over the 1660 at this track and was able to hold off MIRACLE MOOSE (8) late who had the run on his back. He has good gate speed and should be able to press forward and find a prominent position in this race.

MIRACLE MOOSE (8) should get a good run through early in this race behind one of the race favourites. He ran well two starts ago finishing a close up second behind FRENCH FRIES (4) before breaking through for a good win leading all the way beating Our Sunset Delight.

FREE THINKER (5) hasn’t had a lot of luck since leading all the way at Redcliffe and rating good time five starts ago. He was left without cover last time out in a race which didn’t suit runners off the pegs and he battled on nicely for sixth.

SELECTIONS: DARIN (1), FRENCH FRIES (4), MIRACLE MOOSE (8), FREE THINKER (5)

SUGGESTED BET: DARIN (1) to win.

Two back was well beaten into seventh behind Leap To Fame at this track over 2138m in a LR on July 11 at $151. Then a handy effort when a close second behind Call To Order at this track over 2680m in a G3 on July 18 at $61. Big chance.

Race 4

FIFTY THREE STARS (2) has good gate speed and can look to work to the lead early. He was able to lead three starts ago at this track when proving too good and rating fast time before backing that up with another good win sitting without cover.

SHEER VITALITY (9) was first up in QLD last time out for the stable of Donny Smith when sitting without cover applying strong pressure to the leader and only tiring very late into a close up third. She is likely to have derived good benefit from that outing and should get a good run from a soft trailing draw.

MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (1) led an easier race two starts ago when over racing out in front. He then had a few weeks between runs and was running on late last start into fourth behind Major Orion.

HES ALL TORQUE (8) should get a reasonable run through early in this race. He led early two starts ago before handing over and finished it off well into second behind Mister Seaside.

SELECTIONS: FIFTY THREE STARS (2), SHEER VITALITY (9), MAYWYN TROUBADOUR (1), HES ALL TORQUE (8)

SUGGESTED BET: FIFTY THREE STARS (2) to win.

Failed to impress last start; 5th (Fr4) over 1780m at Redcliffe beaten 6 m by Hes Sweet (2:06.40) in 3yo+ on August 5 at $4.60. Showed ability the race before when he won by a neck (Fr7) at this track (1:58.70) beating Our Sweet Jess in 3yo+ on July 30 at $5.50. Rates highly. Good enough to take this out.

Race 5
Each Way

SWEET DIOR (4) has good gate speed and can look for a prominent position in this race from a front row draw. She found the top two starts ago and was only run down in the concluding stages by Lilstrepo. She should be hard to beat again.

GOLDEN SHOOZ (6) was badly checked making a break two starts ago before catching them up and running on strongly into second behind Bubby To Base in what was a very impressive effort. She is a horse that can do some work in her races and should go well in this company.

ALWAYS ADORNED (1) appeared to draw well on paper last time out but had nothing go her way there when dragged right out of the race before hitting the line late once eventually clear. She draws well this time and should secure a good run.

BETTORS MOON (5) worked to the front last time out and was forced to run a very fast first half there of 26.8, 28.6 before she was run down late by Queen Lilibet who raced off the speed. She draws the front row and can find a prominent position again.

SELECTIONS: SWEET DIOR (4), GOLDEN SHOOZ (6), ALWAYS ADORNED (1), BETTORS MOON (5)

SUGGESTED BET: ALWAYS ADORNED (1) each way.

Not far away at the last couple starts; Finished 4.5 m seventh behind Queen Lilibet at this track over 1660m 4yo+ last start. Before that was beaten 2.5 metres second at Redcliffe over 1780m in 3yo+ on July 31. Rates highly and can atone.

Race 6

AIR EXPRESS (3) was luckless last time out when copping a flat tyre at a crucial stage of the race which saw him run down late by Rakasandy who had an economical run leaders back. He finds a similar type of race here and draws reasonably.

ROCKNROLL WALLA (1) has good gate speed and draws ideally in this race. He showed good gate speed to lead last time out before being badly checked and making a break which took him out of play. He showed promise three starts ago when not beaten far behind Credulous after showing gate speed early.

CHEER LEADER (6) secured a good run behind the leader Lochinvar Camaro last time out and just didn’t seem to finish the race off late. She may be suited not sitting as close to the speed this time and doing no work early.

MOSSDALE TERRY (8) should get a good run through early on the back of a gate speed horse in this race. He was left without cover last time out and ran a good race there when not beaten far behind Miracle Moose.

SELECTIONS: AIR EXPRESS (3), ROCKNROLL WALLA (1), CHEER LEADER (6), MOSSDALE TERRY (8)

SUGGESTED BET: AIR EXPRESS (3) to win.

Solid run when beaten by 2.75 m finishing third after being driven well back, behind Spirit Of Anarchy at this track over 1660m in a 3yo+ on July 28 at $12. Then a handy effort when a close second behind Rakasandy at this track over 2138m in a 4yo+ on August 8 at $5. One of the primary contenders.

Race 7

CHEERSTOLOU (2) had no luck last time out when attempting to press for the lead before Captains Knock was able to roll to the lead and run fast time. He ran an excellent race under the circumstances given the flying time and the fact he had to sit without cover. If he leads in this race they won’t beat him.

WISPER A SECRET (1) worked hard early last time to repel the challenge of CHEERSTOLOU (2) before handing over to Captains Knock. He may have just done too much early there when fading out of it late into fifth. If he can secure a more economical run this time he can bounce back and looks a good place chance.

ATTACHMENT (3) drew poorly last start in the Inter Dominion Consolation which saw him forced to do plenty of work which just saw him get tired late into tenth. He looks suited in the small field and should be close enough in the run.

GHOST OF TIME (4) heads up to QLD from Victoria and appears to bring strong metro form into this race. He finished fifth last time out when drawing wide and getting back in a race taken out by The Art Of Success.

SELECTIONS: CHEERSTOLOU (2), WISPER A SECRET (1), ATTACHMENT (3), GHOST OF TIME (4)

SUGGESTED BET: CHEERSTOLOU (2) to win.

Two back was well beaten into thirteenth after showing early speed, behind Captains Mistress at this track over 2680m on July 18 at $151. Then a handy effort when well beaten into second after showing early speed, behind Captains Knock at this track over 1660m in a 4yo+ on August 1 at $2.70. Winning prospects.

Race 8

BUBBY TO BASE (4) showed very good gate speed two starts ago to launch across the field and take it up early before kicking clear and holding a good margin late. She finds another race where she may be able to launch across early and if she does lead she is likely to be hard to beat.

LULLABY (2) was beaten for speed early last time out by Ruby Rules who zipped across and took it up while LULLABY (2) was forced to duck in and take the position 3 back on the pegs before running through the line well late into third. If she can find a prominent position again in this race she should run well.

SEASIDE GLORY (5) didn’t have much luck last time out when left without cover which isn’t usually how she is best suited in her races but she was still able to battle on well for fourth not beaten too far behind smart mare Ruby Rules. She draws a touch awkwardly again and may need a few things to go her way.

LILSTREPO (1) handed over the lead last time out at this track before sprinting best to run down Sweet Dior there. She makes a step up in grade into this race but does draw favourably and should get the right type of run.

SELECTIONS: BUBBY TO BASE (4), LULLABY (2), SEASIDE GLORY (5), LILSTREPO (1)

SUGGESTED BET: LULLABY (2) to win.

Fair run when beaten by 5.5 m finishing third behind Dreamalittledream at this track over 1660m in a 4yo+ on August 1 at $5.50. Then a handy effort when beaten by 6 m finishing third after being driven well back, after a quick start, behind Ruby Rules at this track over 2138m in a 4yo+ on August 8 at $16. Top chance again.

Race 9

REAL TIN TIN (2) got a good run off the speed last time out and was running on well late behind My Ultimate Zander and Captain Jazz at Redcliffe. He should settle close in this race from a good draw and is a capable sit sprinter.

CHAMPAGNE WALSH (4) was caught wide before being shuffled back last time out and was running on well late into sixth behind Alta Sensation. He draws a touch awkwardly in this race and may be shuffled back again. He should be running on well.

NEXT TO ME (7) got a good run off the speed two starts ago and was running on well into second behind Alta Sensation who rated good time. He draws poorly in this race outside the front row and will need a few things to go his way in the run.

MULLUM DOC (1) used his very good gate speed last time out to find the front early and was able to take them all the way beating Miss Bay King Cole. He should lead early and will have options from there.

SELECTIONS: REAL TIN TIN (2), CHAMPAGNE WALSH (4), NEXT TO ME (7), MULLUM DOC (1)

SUGGESTED BET: REAL TIN TIN (2) to win.
