SARMAT (5) is ready to break his maiden today at Lismore.
The Smart Missile gelding has only made two appearances at the races since debuting, filling the minors at Graton back in February, while hitting the line to finish on the placegetters’ heels when resuming.
With natural improvement, this is a great opportunity for him to win.

SPICY WINGS (6) is third up and primed to strike on Lismore Cup Day.
The Vadamos gelding returned to action with a fine performance to get up in Class 1 company at Murwillumbah before finishing down the order at Grafton last time out, in a performance that was surely too bad to be true.
Putting a line through that run, he steps out today a fit horse and can bounce back.

FUKUBANA (14) is the one for me in today’s Lismore Cup.
After returning to action to only just miss in Class 1 company at Doomben last month, the Dundeel gelding was too strong for his rivals over 1400m at Eagle Farm last time.
Fitter third-up and out to the mile this week, this looks a perfect feature race for him.

My best bet of the day comes up in the last – CINDERSEA (2) second up from a spell.
Cindersea found form around some quality gallopers las time in, while she shook off the cobwebs with a competitive performance to finish third at Doomben a fortnight ago, beaten only a length.
With natural improvement, I can’t find a reason why she won’t be in the finish.
