Since the change of name and conditions, the event is no longer confused with the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes (1200m) for fillies and mares held at Randwick in April during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Open only to fillies and mares, the event serves as a potential lead-up into the $700,000 Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara (1400m) also run at WFA at Eagle Farm a fortnight later.
