Ladbrokes Tip: Sandown Guineas winners often come off a Carbine Club Stakes run on Derby Day
The Sandown Guineas is a Group 2 feature race formerly held at Sandown Racecourse in late November or early December at the tail end of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

In 2021 the Sandown Guineas and entire Zipping Classic Day card was moved to late November and took place at Caulfield Racecourse where it remained for the 2022 edition.
The 2023 Sandown Guineas ran on the first Saturday of December, while in 2024 the event ran on the last Saturday in November.
The meeting usually runs on the second Saturday of the month after the Melbourne Cup Carnival finishes up the week before with Champions Stakes Day at Flemington.
Sandown Guineas Day is headlined by two Group 2 races including the Zipping Classic (2400m) for stayers. Also on the card are the Group 3 Kevin Heffernan Stakes (1300m), Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m), and the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m).
Run over a mile (1600m), the race offers $300,000 in total prize money to the three-year-olds in the field that face off under set weights and is usually the final spring run of the campaign for its contestants.
The latest edition of the Sandown Guineas ran on Saturday November 15, 2025 at Caulfield Racecourse and saw Ciaron Maher’s Snitzel filly Snitzanova ($6) make it a hat-trick with a gutsy win over the colts and geldings.
