2025 Theo Marks Stakes Same Race Multi Selections ($71 at time of publish)
- To Win – No. 5 Autumn Glow
- Top 3 – No. 7 El Castello
- Top 4 – No. 9 Leica Lucy
There’s no value in backing the top pick AUTUMN GLOW (6)—but it’s near impossible to bet against her.
Chris Waller’s undefeated daughter of The Autumn Sun boasts a perfect five-from-five record and ticks every box to keep the streak alive this weekend. She’s fit, second-up, and primed to deliver again for punters. Already a Group 2 winner, she was brilliant fresh on a Heavy (10) track to claim the Group 3 Toy Show Quality, and she’ll relish the step up to 1300m—where she’s two-from-two. She returns to her favourite track, having won three times at Rosehill, and draws ideally in midfield. With J-Mac riding in Melbourne, Kerrin McEvoy takes the reins—another elite hoop more than capable of getting the job done.
She’s the one to beat. Wins.
For value in a Same Race Multi to run Top 3 EL CASTELLO (8) for Joe Pride looks well overs coming in as a 25/1 outsider despite some excellent form last season from this now four-year-old. He won first-up in September over 1400m at Warwick Farm and went on to take out his next three on the trot including the Group 3 Gloaming Stakes here at Rosehill as well as Randwick’s Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes. Runs for the first time since his VRC Derby fifth from the outside barrier (16) and, while he’ll improve over further deeper into his campaign, he’s not with Place claims at a price.
Throwing LECIA LUCY (3) in the Top 4 as she’s Waller trained, settling down under and has class as a NZ Derby winner across the Tasman. She’s six-from-eight overall so is super consistent, was under a length off Treasurethe Moment in the Group 1 ATC Oaks at her latest and we’ve seen how well that mare did in the Memsie. Will be finishing off strongly and hopefully there in the finish.

The Theo Marks Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Run To The Rose Day in September during the Sydney Spring Racing Carnival. Contested on the same day as the Group 2 The Run To The Rose for Group 1 Golden Rose-bound three-year-olds, the Theo Marks race is open to horses aged three-years-old and over and is run under quality handicap conditions over 1300m.

Offering a total of $300,000 in prize money as of 2023, the race makes a nice lead-up to tougher spring features like the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) at Randwick the following month. The last horse to complete the Theo Marks Stakes – Epsom Handicap double in a single season was Winx (2015).
Many horses also now use the Theo Marks Stakes as a lead-up to the world’s richest race on turf – the $20 million The Everest (1400m) at Randwick in October.
