Racing on the card is headlined by the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) and Group 1 Queensland Derby (2400m).

The BRC Premier’s Cup is one of the key support acts on the program alongside the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1400m) and the Group 3 BRC Lord Mayor’s Cup (1800m).

The event offers $200,000 in prize money and is a quality handicap clash.

The Group 3 race is part of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival and was first held in 2006 over 2200m (2006-2014).

The BRC Premier’s Cup has run over 2400m since 2016.

It is a key lead-up to the Group 2 $400,000 Brisbane Cup (3200m) which is held over the traditional two-mile cup distance, like Flemington’s Melbourne Cup in the spring, a fortnight later on Stradbroke Handicap Day.
