- To Win: #13 Makarena ($4 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Makarena is deserving favourite in the Emancipation Stakes fit now and looking ready to strike fourth-up taking on the older mares. She chases her first win since the Tapp-Craig during the spring over 1400m here and has been thereabouts in all of her autumn lead-ups. Group 1 Surround Stakes fifth caught the eye two back only two lengths beaten in top company. At her latest she was runner-up to Zardozi (a Gr.1 VRC Oaks winner) in the Group 2 Phar Lap with 54.5kg at this track and trip. Down to 53kg now, Tim Clark retains the ride, and she’s drawn the rails. Big chance.
