The event is restricted to Inglis sales graduates and is part of the exciting Australian Guineas Day card at headquarters.Â
The sole elite level feature on the Flemington card at the meeting is the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m), also for three-year-old runners, while the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) is the other key support act on Guineas Day.Â
Part of the coveted Inglis Race Series, the Inglis Sprint is worth $1 million in prize money and is run at set weights down the famous Flemington ‘Straight Six’ (1200m).Â
Horses that contested the previous season’s $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m) as juveniles in Sydney often return as autumn three-year-olds to contest the Inglis Sprint in Victoria.Â
The Inglis Sprint was first run in 2015 when the filly Lady Sniper became the inaugural champion. Initially, it was held at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney before moving to Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse in 2022.Â
The opening two editions took place in Sydney in December, while there was no 2017 race before the event resumed as an annual autumn feature from 2018 onwards.Â

- To Win: #4 Rue De Royale ($27 at time of publish) – BET NOW
Wide open field for the lucrative Inglis Sprint race at Headquarters this weekend but, with a number of the better fancied chances drawn the carpark, have tipped a boilover with Rue De Royale fresh looking huge value at 26/1 at time of publish. The nicely bred Per Incanto colt will get a charmed run from gate four with Harry Coffey aboard the Tony & Calvin McEvoy trained youngster first-up. He’s had three runs fresh for just one second placing but finished his spring strongly with a second in the Group 3 Blue Sapphire at Caulfield in November. Group 2 placed in the spring at The Valley behind Evaporate he is a Caulfield Guineas graduate. Will obviously improve over further with his only win to date from a dozen starts being over 1300m but just think he might be better this time in and ready to race better than the markets suggest.Â
