The Super Bowl is one of the most important sports events in the world and is the annual NFL championship game played on the first Sunday of February in the US known in the States as “Super Bowl Sunday”.
Bringing a supercharged end to the NFL season, Super Bowl was first played in 1967. It was part of the AFL – NFL merger and it is played between the NFL conference champions.
- The National Football Conference (NFC) has 29 Super Bowl wins – most recently the Los Angeles Rams who defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56 for the 2021/22 NFL season.
- The American Football Conference (AFC) has 28 Super Bowl wins – most recently the Chiefs beating the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 for the 2022/23 NFL season before going back-to-back with a 25-22 overtime victory over the 49ers in Super Bowl 58 for the 2023 NFL season.
The inaugural Super Bowl winners were the Green Bay Packers (NFL) who beat the Kansas City Chiefs (AFL) 35 – 10 in Super Bowl I.
The Kansas City Chiefs (AFL) are the most recent Super Bowl winners after beating the San Francisco 49ers 25 – 22 in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII.
Super Bowl betting is massive and NFL Championship odds are open nearly all year round.
Also hugely popular is the world-famous Super Bowl half-time show and novelty American Football betting markets are sometimes available on what act will entertain the record crowds attending that season’s Super Bowl game.
