Super Bowl LV is scheduled to kick off on Monday, February 8 from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The Super Bowl is one of the most important sports events in the world and is the annual NFL championship game played on the first Sunday of February in the US known in the States as “Super Bowl Sunday”.
Bringing a supercharged end to the NFL season, Super Bowl was first played in 1967. It was part of the AFL – NFL merger and it is played between the NFL conference champions.
- The National Football Conference (NFC) has 27 Super Bowl wins – most recently the Philadelphia Eagles upsetting the Patriots in Super Bowl 52.
- The American Football Conference (AFC) has 26 Super Bowl wins – most recently the Chiefs beating the 49ers in Super Bowl 54.
The inaugural Super Bowl winners were the Green Bay Packers (NFL) who beat the Kansas City Chiefs (AFL) 35 – 10 in Super Bowl I.
Super Bowl betting is massive and NFL Championship odds are open nearly all year round.
Also hugely popular is the world-famous Super Bowl half-time show and novelty American Football betting markets are sometimes available on what act will entertain the record crowds attending that season’s Super Bowl game.
Super Bowl LIV
The Super Bowl LIV 2020 took place on Monday February 3, 2020 (Aus time) between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers to determine the the 2019/2020 NFL champions.
The Chiefs won Super Bowl 54 defeating the 49ers 31 – 20 after an incredible comeback. San Francisco were dominating the game before, in the space of just five minutes, Kansas City quarterback and Patrick Mahomes (eventual Super Bowl 54 MVP) took control leading the Chiefs to score three consecutive touchdowns with 21 unanswered points snatching the victory from the 49ers.
The 54th Super Bowl and the 50th in the modern-era of the NFL, the game was the 11th to take place in the South Florida region and the first since Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.
Miami Gardens hosted their sixth Super Bowl game with Super Bowl 54 televised by Fox. The cost for 30 seconds of commercial time for Super Bowl 54 was an incredible $5.6 million!
The venue for Super Bowl 54 was Hard Rock Stadium, which is home of the Miami Dolphins NFL team.
After South Florida (Miami) host Super Bowl 2020 the NFL’s championship game will be hosted by Los Angeles in 2021.
