Ladbrokes Tip: The Randwick Guineas – Rosehill Guineas is a popular autumn betting double
The next edition of the Rosehill Guineas runs on Saturday March 22, 2025 on the popular Golden Slipper Day card in Sydney as a key ATC Derby lead-up.

The official Rosehill Guineas 2025 betting odds will be available below as soon as markets on the Group 1 three-years-old feature on Golden Slipper Day are out.

The Rosehill Guineas takes place at Rosehill Racecourse in March as part of the elite Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival action on Golden Slipper Stakes Day.

The meeting, usually held on the third Saturday in March, features five top-level races including the Rosehill Guineas run over 2000m for three-year-olds. Run at set weights the colts and geldings in the Rosehill Guineas field carry 56.5kg while the fillies carry 54.5kg.
Many of the three-year-olds in the race come out of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) contested over 400m less at Randwick a fortnight earlier and the double was last achieved by It’s A Dundeel (2013) and The Autumn Sun (2019).
In 2022 Anamoe improved on a Randwick Guineas second to turn the tables and defeat his last start conqueror Converge in the Rosehill Guineas. The following year the Chris Waller-trained Lindermann (2023) also ran second in the Randwick Guineas before his all-the-way Rosehill Guineas success.
The Rosehill Guineas is also a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) over the mile and a half on Doncaster Mile Day during The Championships with the Rosehill Guineas winner exempt from ATC Derby ballot.
The latest horses to do the Rosehill Guineas – Australian Derby double are Criterion (2014) and Riff Rocket (2024) a decade later.

Rosehill Guineas Betting
Rosehill Guineas betting odds favour three-year-olds that ran in the Randwick Guineas earlier in the autumn in Sydney or New Zealand gallopers coming out of the NZ Derby.
Favourites have a strong recent record in the Rosehill Guineas with eight saluting for the punters in recent times, most recently: It’s A Dundeel (2013), Tarzino (2016), D’Argento (2018), The Autumn Sun (2019), Mo’unga (2021), Anamoe (2022), and Riff Rocket ($2.70 in 2024).
Three-year-olds displaying staying potential are dominant in the Rosehill Guineas odds as are those drawn in barriers 1 – 8.
The most successful Rosehill Guineas barriers in the past 30 plus years are five and eight. Barrier two also produced back-to-back Rosehill Guineas winners in 2015 and 2016.
In 2023 Lindermann scored an upset from barrier eight of eight. His stablemate, Riff Rocket, won from gate seven in 2024 as the favourite for Chris Waller.
Rosehill Guineas Field
The Rosehill Guineas race field attracts a varying number of final acceptors each autumn. Low numbers contested the race in 2013 (8) and 2015 (7), while in 2014 the winner Criterion defeated 14 rivals in a 15-starter Rosehill Guineas field.
There were just six runners in the 2022 Rosehill Guineas field when Anamoe won by a blistering seven length margin.
Lindermann won in 2023 defeating just seven rivals in another small eight-horse Rosehill Guineas field from the outside alley.
Riff Rocket beat 10 rivals in 2024.

Two races produced all but one of the 15 Rosehill Guineas winners from 2009 – 2024 with the champions coming via either the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) or the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m).
In 2016 Tarzino came off an Australian Guineas second in Melbourne for his win in the Rosehill Guineas.
Riff Rocket was third in the Australian Guineas over the mile at Flemington before his Rosehill Guineas victory in Sydney in 2024.
While the Rosehill Guineas field is open to both male and female runners, the last filly to beat home the boys in the classic was Riverina Charm back in 1989.
Rosehill Guineas nominations close on a Tuesday in early February, with the final field of acceptances and barrier draw released on the Wednesday of race week.
2025 Rosehill Guineas Field
The official 2025 Rosehill Guineas Final Field & Barrier Draw will be published in full below the Wednesday of race week.
2025 Rosehill Guineas Nominations
Racing NSW take the official Rosehill Guineas 2025 nominations at midday on Tuesday the 11th of February 2025.
The 2025 Rosehill Guineas nominations drew 95 ace three-year-old hopefuls led in betting by Group 1 JJ Atkins – Golden Rose double champ Broadsiding from the Godolphin stable.

Rosehill Guineas Tips
Rosehill Guineas tips favour the promising young stayers in the field that come out of the earlier Sydney lead-up run in the Randwick Guineas.
The Randwick Guineas has produced more Rosehill Guineas than any other race and backing the first or second past the post in that mile clash is a good tip when it comes to the second of the Guineas races.
Backing in-form horses drawn inside of barrier eight and avoiding the fillies in the markets based on the historical data are other good Rosehill Guineas tips.
2025 Rosehill Guineas Tips
Our Ladbrokes’ insider Rosehill Guineas 2025 betting tips on the three-year-old autumn staying types to back and sack in the clash this autumn will be detailed below a few days out from the race so bookmark this page.
Rosehill Guineas Form Guide
The Rosehill Guineas form guide shows all the essential information on the field including the jockeys, trainers, barriers and lead-up form of all the horses.
Of the 16 Rosehill Guineas winners from 2009 – 2024 five came off a win, something punters can look for in the form guide.
Also checking out the starting barriers in the Rosehill Guineas form can give a guide to how a horse will perform on race day with just two winners jumping from wider than barrier eight since 2003.

2024 Rosehill Guineas winner Riff Rocket was too strong for his rivals saluting for the punters and Waller stable. Photo: Steve Hart.
Back-to-back Rosehill Guineas winners jumped from barrier two in 2015 and 2016 so inside draws can be a key thing to keep an eye on in the Group 1 autumn form guide for the race.
Anamoe franked the 2022 Rosehill Guineas form returning that spring to win five Group 1 races on the trot including the Cox Plate at The Valley.
Rosehill Guineas Form Facts
- Criterion (12 of 15 in 2014) is the only Rosehill Guineas winner to jump from wider than barrier eight since 2007.
- No filly has topped the Rosehill Guineas results since 1989.
- Horses coming off a top four run have a dominant recent record in the Rosehill Guineas.
- New Zealand horses have a number of recent Rosehill Guineas victories, often being bred to stay the distance.

A link to our comprehensive Rosehill Guineas 2025 Form Guide will be provided for punters below the week of the race.
