Broadsiding (2nd in 2025) and Autumn Boy (2nd in 2026) are the latest Randwick Guineas graduates to continue on and win the Rosehill Guineas. 

The Rosehill Guineas is also a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) over the mile and a half on Doncaster Mile Day during The Championships with the Rosehill Guineas winner exempt from ATC Derby ballot.

The latest horses to do the Rosehill Guineas – Australian Derby double are Criterion (2014) and Riff Rocket (2024) a decade later. 

The 2025 Rosehill Guineas turned out to be a serious form race, producing that year’s ATC Derby winner — with runner‑up Aeliana coming out next start and smashing the boys by five lengths in the 2400m Group 1.

There were just six runners in the 2022 Rosehill Guineas field when Anamoe won by a blistering seven length margin.

Lindermann won in 2023 defeating just seven rivals in another small eight-horse Rosehill Guineas field from the outside alley.

Riff Rocket beat 10 rivals in 2024.

Broadsiding beat 10 rivals in 2025. 

Autumn Boy beat 7 rivals in 2026.

Two races produced all but one of the 17 Rosehill Guineas winners from 2009 – 2026 with the champions coming via either the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) or the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m).

In 2016 Tarzino came off an Australian Guineas second in Melbourne for his win in the Rosehill Guineas.

Riff Rocket was third in the Australian Guineas over the mile at Flemington before his Rosehill Guineas victory in Sydney in 2024.

While the Rosehill Guineas field is open to both male and female runners, the last filly to beat home the boys in the classic was Riverina Charm back in 1989.

In 2025 Chris Waller’s filly Aeliana ran second to Broadsiding nearly stealing the show with just 0.03 lengths stopping her from beating home the boys! 

Waller went on to win the race the next year with Autumn Boy saluting in the 2026 Rosehill Guineas.

Rosehill Guineas nominations close on a Tuesday in early February, with the final field of acceptances and barrier draw released on the Wednesday of race week.
