Ladbrokes Tip: The Randwick Guineas – Rosehill Guineas is a popular autumn betting double
The Rosehill Guineas takes place at Rosehill Racecourse in March as part of the elite Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival action on Golden Slipper Stakes Day.
The meeting, usually held on the third Saturday in March, features five top-level races including the Rosehill Guineas run over 2000m for three-year-olds. Run at set weights the colts and geldings in the Rosehill Guineas field carry 56.5kg while the fillies carry 54.5kg.
Many of the three-year-olds in the race come out of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) contested over 400m less at Randwick a fortnight earlier and the double was last achieved by It’s A Dundeel (2013).
The Rosehill Guineas is also a nice lead-up into the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) over the mile and a half on Doncaster Mile Day during The Championships.

The official 2018 Rosehill Guineas Results saw the punters enjoy a win with a nice late effort from the Chris Waller-trained D’Argento ($3.80F). He originally beat home the NZ Derby winner Vin De Dance, but the runner-up was relegated to fourth after a successful protest by Furore who got third. The also Waller-trained Tangled was then bumped up from third to second in the Rosehill Guineas trifecta.

Two races produced all but one of the 10 Rosehill Guineas winners from 2009 – 2018 with the champions coming via either the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) or the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m). In 2016 Tarzino came off an Australian Guineas second in Melbourne for his win in the Rosehill Guineas.
While the Rosehill Guineas field is open to both male and female runners, the last filly to beat home the boys in the classic was Riverina Charm back in 1989.
