Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman’s outstanding filly Sheza Alibi ($2.10F) gave the boys a galloping lesson when saluting for the punters by a huge 3.2 length margin in Saturday’s 2026 Randwick Guineas results. The sole filly in the field, she became the first of her kind since Mosheen (2012) to beat home the colts and geldings when rated to perfection by Luke Nolen – now a 2000-time winning hoop – to level up to the front runners and race away for her fourth straight victory.

Randwick Guineas Tips

The top Randwick Guineas tips are to look at the lead-up form of the three-year-olds in the field and look for horses that ran in the top three in their latest run.

Only six Randwick Guineas winners in over a decade ran worse than fourth in their last Group race start with Jymcarew (11th in 2005), Inference who improved on a Hobartville Stakes fifth to salute in 2017, 2020 Hobartville fifth placed Shadow Hero, 2021 when Lion’s Roar backed-up off a Hobartville fifth, 2023 with the Hobartville seventh place-getter Communist improving notably, and 2025 with Linebacker winning off a Hobartville Stakes sixth.

Fillies are often a danger Randwick Guineas tip to take as they have only a fare record over the boys in the race, although Sheza Alibi (2026) did win as a filly by over three lengths!

Barriers seem to matter little when it comes to Randwick Guineas tipping with an even spread of winners from single and double digit gates.

The most popular barrier since 1983 with eight Randwick Guineas winners is barrier four and Kementari (2018), The Autumn Sun (2019), Converge (2022) and Sheza Alibi (2026) are the latest to salute from the gate.

The Randwick Guineas is a highlight race of the annual Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival and takes place at Royal Randwick Racecourse on a Saturday in early March. The mile feature runs over 1600m and is part of a Group 1 double-header on Randwick Guineas Day supported by the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).

Open only to three-year-old runners the feature is worth $1 million in prize money and is run at set weights with colts and geldings carrying 56.5kg and fillies allocated 54.5kg. The Randwick Guineas winner is exempt from ballot for both the Doncaster Mile run over the same track and distance during Sydney’s The Championships in April as well as the ATC Derby held over 2400m.

Celestial Legend (2024) was the last horse to complete the Randwick Guineas – Doncaster Mile double as a three-year-old.

The season’s premier three-year-olds often run in the Randwick Guineas before backing-up in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) over 400m further in a fortnight’s time. The Autumn Sun (2019) was the last horse to complete the Randwick Guineas – Rosehill Guineas double. The race is also a great guide to the ATC Derby held over 2400m. It’s A Dundeel (2013) was the last Randwick Guineas winner to continue on and win the Australian Derby.

Upset 25/1 Randwick Guineas winner Lion’s Roar in 2021 finished third in that season’s ATC Derby trifecta, while the Randwick Guineas runner-up Mo’unga franked the form winning the Rosehill Guineas next start.

In 2022 the Randwick Guineas runner-up Anamoe turned the tables on the winner Converge with the duo running one-two in the Rosehill Guineas results in reverse order next start.

The 2023 Rosehill Guineas winner Lindermann meanwhile came via a lead-up second in the Randwick Guineas results.

The 2025 Randwick Guineas also proved a strong form race, with runner‑up Broadsiding stepping straight out and winning the Rosehill Guineas at his next start when rising in trip.

Randwick Guineas Betting

Randwick Guineas betting is dominated at online bookmakers like us here at Ladbrokes by the best three-year-olds of the season coming off winning lead-up runs.

Last start winners have a gun record in the Randwick Guineas with eight winners from 2011 – 2026 having won their lead-up race, most recently the filly Sheza Alibi (2026) who made it four wins on the trot second-up off a lead-up win fresh in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

The Hobartville Stakes winner usually opens near the top of the Randwick Guineas odds if accepted.

Favourites have only a solid recent record in the Group 1 with the latest to salute for the punters being The Autumn Sun (2019) and Kementari (2018) who both came off a Hobartville Stakes win, followed by the filly Sheza Alibit ($2.10 in 2026).

Celestial Legend (2024) did the Hobartville Stakes / Randwick Guineas double.

Linebacker (6th in 2025) was the last Randwick Guineas winner to come off a run in the Hobartville Stakes

Fillies are often further down the Randwick Guineas betting odds with the only fillies to win since Fine Society (2003) being Mosheen (2012) and Sheza Alibi (2026).

There was a notable upset in 2021 with Lion’s Roar won the race at Randwick Guineas odds of $26 and again in 2023 with Communist ($16).

In 2025 Linebacker won at Randwick Guineas odds of $9 beating the odds-on favourite Broadsiding in another upset.

Randwick Guineas Field

The Randwick Guineas race field attracts the best three-year-old milers and staying types of the season however is rarely run at capacity.

The Hobartville Stakes – Randwick Guineas double was won three times from 2011 – 2015 with Ilovethiscity (2011), Dissident (2014) and Hallowed Crown (2015) all successful in both races, and again in 2018 by Kementari and 2019 by The Autumn Sun.

Celestial Legend (2024) was the last three-year-old to do the Hobartville – Randwick Guineas race double.

Earlier, the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) at Randwick makes a nice starting point for horses eyeing a run in the Randwick Guineas field and Kementari (2018) was the last to do the double.

In 2022 Converge won the Randwick Guineas having placed third in both the Eskimo Prince Stakes and Hobartville Stakes. That year’s Hobartville Stakes winner Anamoe finished second in the Randwick Guineas as the beaten odds-on favourite, while the Hobartville runner-up Hilal placed third in the Group 1 over the mile.

In 2023 the upset Randwick Guineas winner Communist ran third in the Eskimo Prince and seventh in the Hobartville leading up to his Group 1 success.

Many three-year-olds coming out of the Randwick Guineas field go on to compete in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) later in March, which is another popular betting double most recently completed by The Autumn Sun (2019).
