The latest edition of the Triscay Stakes ran at Randwick on Saturday, February 15, 2025 as part of the Apollo Stakes Day card and saw the Godolphin raced four-year-old Inhibitions ($13) enjoy a Group 3 win second-up in a strong late run.

James Cummings’ progressive Zoustar four-year-old, Inhibitions ($13), continued her terrific second-up record coming from third in the run to hit pounce inside the final 100m off a perfectly timed ride by Kerrin McEvoy to post a Group 3 win in the Triscay Stakes 2025 results when holding off the fast-finishing Clear Thinking in Sydney.

2025 Triscay Stakes Odds

The updated Triscay Stakes 2025 betting odds will be available below as soon as markets on the Group 3 mares’ only autumn feature are released.

The Triscay Stakes race is a Group 3 thoroughbred event run and won at the iconic Royal Randwick Racecourse in mid-February ahead of the coveted Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

A quality handicap sprint taking place over 1200m, the Triscay is open only to mares aged four and above and has held Group 3 status since 2014.

It is a key lead-up to tougher grade autumn events for the female gallopers and currently offers $250,000 in total prize money.

The Triscay Stakes runs on Apollo Stakes Day that also features the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m), and the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes (1200m).

Inaugurated in 1995 the event is named in honour of former top line filly Triscay, best known for her success in the 1991 Queensland Guineas and Queensland Oaks during her three-year-old season.

The best mares out of the Triscay may continue onto targets like the Group 1 $1 million Coolmore Classic (1500m) the following month.

Triscay Stakes Betting

Triscay Stakes odds are released after the final field is known the Wednesday before the race. Mares proven at Randwick with winning form over 1200m or further, and those that were Group 1 or 2 performed during the previous spring in Sydney dominate the Triscay betting markets.

The race is often a first-up option for the older female gallopers, so those with good resuming form feature high up the markets.

Favourites have a solid record in the Triscay Stakes, although Po Kare Kare did score an upset of note saluting in 2023 at $19 odds and Inhibitions won at $13 in 2025.

The latest Triscay Stakes betting favourites to win are Tailleur ($1.35 in 2021) and Snapdancer ($2.90 in 2022).

The next run traditionally on the card for runners out of the Triscay Stakes is the Group 3 Wenona Girl Quality (1200m) at the same track and distance in March.

A bit of early money on the Chris Waller trained Cigar Flick to return to winning form in the Triscay and happy to follow that money trail. This four-year-old daughter of Churchill hasn’t been first past the post since June last year, but she has been competitive in plenty since without winning. At her latest she was under a length beaten running third over 1300m at Rosehill when down in grade for a BM88 back on January 18. She carted a hefty 58.5kg that day and will relish the drop back to 55.5kg as she returns to Group class. Small field and she’s drawn well in gate three for Jason Collett who should get the run of the race. She’s won at Randwick previously, is a Group 2 placegetter at her best form, and looks a nice price to perhaps surprise a few here.

The 2024 Triscay Stakes form was franked with the winner Semana running a next up second in the Coolmore Classic before a third in that year’s Queen Of The Turf Stakes trifecta.
