Adelaide United vs Central Coast Mariners
It’s crunch time for Adelaide United this week, who have slipped to fifth place overall following the Asian Cup break. After suffering a demoralizing defeat to Wellington last weekend, Josep Gombau’s men have the talent to return to winning ways on Thursday night but will have to starve the Mariners’ attack of possession. The Central Coast have been all but written off as title contenders this season but after an impressive win last weekend, represent exceptional value for success at $6.50 odds.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory
Western Sydney played a catch-up game against Melbourne City mid-week, securing what has become a rare three competition points for the current club champions of Asia. Despite the two day turnaround, in what is a huge plus for Wanderers fans, Manager Tony Popovic elected to keep several of his roster’s ‘big names’ out of the clash with a view to Friday. The Victory remain within one win of top spot on the A-League ladder but will undoubtedly have their hands full with what is sure to be a rejuvenated Western Sydney, in Parramatta. With both teams playing hard for different reasons, $3.40 odds for a draw may well and truly be worth consideration.

Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets
Melbourne City worked hard for their position in the top 6 following a slow start to the season but after dropping all the points in vital matches over recent weeks, are now faced with a tough task to make a post season appearance. Newcastle have experienced a tumultuous season of their own to say the least, and find this match with little to play for. Aaron Mooy will leave Melbourne City for a few games at the end of the month after his selection in Ange Postecoglou’s Socceroos squad, and will be looking to press his claims for the 2015 Johnny Warren Medal with another standout performance this weekend. If they are real title threats, City should have no issue putting the Jets to the sword on Saturday.

Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix
In what is undoubtedly the match of the week, ladder leaders Perth Glory host second-placed Wellington Phoenix at NIB Stadium on Saturday night. Almost unbeatable leading into the Asian Cup break, the Glory have seemingly forgotten how to win; losing one and drawing four in their last five matches. The Phoenix on the other hand appear to be timing their run to perfection after storming past the Victory and Adelaide United most recently. Andy Keogh is locked in a fierce battle with Sydney’s Mark Janko for this season’ Golden Boot and is offered a good chance of recapturing the lead against Wellington; defence being their Achilles’ heel.

Sydney FC vs Brisbane Roar
In what is always a well-contested rivalry, Brisbane will travel south and will attempt to consolidate their position in the top 6 against Sydney FC. Things have started to look up for the misfiring Roar in recent weeks, who have won four of their last five matches; tying the other. Brandon Borrello fired home the only goal of the match to deliver Brisbane their first Champions League victory away to Urawa Red Diamonds two weeks ago, and returned home to net the winner against the Wanderers last weekend. Sydney FC have also found consistent winning form of late and are one of the league’s toughest tasks at home.
