English Premier League Week 29 Preview

Week 29 of the English Premier League will see several key match-ups take place between teams fighting for Champions League positions, survival and bragging rights in respective cities.

Two London Derbies will be contested in a week of Premier League fixtures arguably highlighted by a match between the similarly-positioned Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

We’re offering the best odds on the widest range of markets for all Premier League matches in Week 29.

Crystal Palace vs Queens Park Rangers

Crystal Palace will host crosstown rivals QPR at Selhurst Park on Saturday night Australian time, and will be hopeful of securing another three valuable competition points after losing to Southampton last week. Having lost their last three Premier League matches, two of which to London rivals, QPR manager Chris Ramsey has urged his side to capitalise on a weakened Palace outfit which will be without the services of the suspended Aussie Mile Jedinak and Jonathan Williams, who is nursing a groin injury. QPR are unbeaten in their last seven matches against Crystal Palace and we are currently offering them at $4.50 for success this weekend.

Arsenal vs West Ham United

In the weekend’s other London derby, West Ham will travel to the Emirates to face an Arsenal side now hot on the heels of reigning champions Manchester City in third position. The Gunners posted an impressive 2-1 away victory over Manchester United last week and figure as a particularly difficult task for a Hammers outfit staring down the barrel of a third-consecutive league loss. While missing the services of Gabriel Paulista, Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arsenal should have no problem outclassing West Ham early Sunday morning.

Leicester City vs Hull City

Hull City manager Steve Bruce signed a contract extension mid-week, and will be confident of another three Premier League points this weekend when his side hosts the bottom placed Leicester City. Having lost only one of their last five matches, Hull have eased the pressure of relegation and will now look to maintain a steady climb away from the drop zone. Foxes manager Nigel Pearson is faced with a selection headache with the return of incumbent goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from injury; a decision likely crucial with Leicester winless in their last six Premier League matches. We’re offering Hull at a generous $3.30 to continue their march away from relegation this weekend.

Sunderland vs Aston Villa

Manager Tim Sherwood appears to have lifted confidence of Aston Villa since his arrival this year, who enter Sunday’s fixture against Sunderland at the Stadium Of Light on the back of consecutive wins over rivals West Brom. Having not lost to the Black Cats in their last seven meetings, Villa will be confident of extending the trend this weekend against a team who have secured just seven points from their last 10 Premier League fixtures at home; winless since the beginning of February. $3.20 for the resurgent Aston Villa represents great value this weekend.

West Bromwich Albion vs Stoke City

Stoke City have climbed to eighth on the Premier League ladder following three-consecutive victories, but undoubtedly face a tough task in a West Brom outfit led by former Potters manager Tony Pulis. In a boost for Stoke, captain Ryan Shawcross appears likely to return from injury, while Stephen Ireland, Peter Odemwingie and Bojan Krkic remain on the sidelines. While winning each of their last five matches at the Hawthorns, Stoke will need to register a standout performance to overcome the Baggies this weekend and a draw appears a likely outcome.

Burnley vs Manchester City

Burnley stunned Manchester City when recovering for a 2-2 draw at Etihad Stadium earlier this season, and will be confident of a similarly impressive performance when hosting the Sky Blues this weekend. City have a clean bill of health leading into this match, and will have to take all three points if to seriously threaten Chelsea for this title this season. Talented mid David Silva has scored four goals in his last six league appearances, and adds another dimension to an already potent strike force. City should have no issue continuing their title defence past the relegation-threatened Clarets on Sunday morning.

Chelsea vs Southampton

Southampton posted a draw against league leaders Chelsea to a draw at home earlier this season, and were unlucky not to take all three points after going ahead early. Having remained in Champions League contention all year, the Saints have slipped to seventh in recent weeks and face a tough task getting their campaign back on track against the rampant Blues. Jose Mourinho’s men were knocked out of the CL by PSG earlier this week, and will be looking to take another step closer to silverware with a Premier League win this weekend. The key for Southampton will be their defence, though another low-scoring Chelsea victory seems likely.

Everton vs Newcastle United

Everton posted a gritty 2-1 win over the Ukraine’s Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League mid-week, and will be full of confidence ahead of their match with the eleventh-placed Newcastle early Monday morning. Having not posted a league victory since the end of January, Everton will view this match as an ideal opportunity to return to the winner’s circle against a Newcastle side who have won only once over the same period of time. Roberto Martinez is confident the Premier League return of midfielder Leon Osman will be pivotal in a successful outing for the Toffees; however another draw appears likely in this fixture.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

In arguably the weekend’s headline fixture, Manchester United and Tottenham will lock horns in what may figure as a key result in the race to a Champions League berth. Suffering a disappointing defeat to Arsenal last week, the Red Devils will consolidate fourth position overall this weekend, and are very unlikely to lose two-straight games in front of the Old Trafford faithful. Back Wayne Rooney to score and United to win for $4 odds with us this weekend.

Swansea City vs Liverpool

In this week’s final Premier League fixture, a relatively inconsistent Swansea City will host Liverpool early Tuesday morning Australian time. Liverpool have found a superb run of form since the start of the year and are now perched only one point outside the top four, while Swansea continue to sit mid-table. An incredible 21 goals have been scored in the last four Premier League encounters between the Swans and Reds, and interestingly the only victory posted by Swansea in England’s top flight against the ‘big four’ club came when current Liverpool boss Brendan Rogers was in charge. Back Raheem Sterling to hit the back of the net in a Liverpool win this weekend for $6 odds.
