A mix of the country’s best with rich international talent will descend on Mount Panorama this weekend for the 2015 Bathurst 1000; undoubtedly Australia’s most recognised and headline Motorsport race.
In what will be the 55th edition of the race, twenty-seven cars, two drivers for each will take to the grid for 161 laps in what is a true test of focus, engineering and above all, stamina.

Bathurst always figures as a particularly interesting event not only for motorsport fans, but also from a betting perspective – owing to the vast array of wagering options and the exceptional value offered by what is undoubtedly the sport’s most even playing field.
The 2015 edition of the race will see ex-Formula 1 driver Sebastian Bordais take a position alongside Lee Holdsworth in car 18, while an all-female team will tackle the mountain for only the second time in Renee Gracie and Switzerland’s Simona de Silvestro; adding plenty of interest to what is sure to be another exceptional day of motorsport.
Overall Winner
Jamie Whincup is a six-time V8 Supercar Series champion and four-time King of the Mountain at Bathurst. Clear favourite to partner Paul Dumbrell to success in 2014, a number of key issues led to the leading Triple Eight Racing pair falling down the field and could only manage a fifth place finish.
Fellow leading contenders Mark Winterbottom and Steve Owen appeared home and hosed until an incident with Craig Lowndes late in the race, which opened the door to double figure odds chances Chaz Mostert and Paul Morris to salute in their FG Falcon, ahead of Nissan’s James Moffat and Taz Douglas and the VF Holden of Nick Percat and Oliver Gaven.
Favourite
Jamie Whincup and Paul Dumbrell ($4.50)
As a result of his dominance of the sport for the best part of the last decade, Whincup (partnered by Dumbrell) remains clear $4.50 favourite in overall winner markets ahead of current championship leader Mark Winterbottom (partnered by Steve Owen) and Chaz Mostert (partnered by Cameron Waters) who share the second line at $5 quotes.
Whincup won the 2014 V8 Supercars championship on the final weekend of races, and has undoubtedly been caught in class by a number of his rivals this season.
Having returned for success in race 1 in Adelaide, Whincup has since managed only two proceeding victories, but remains third in the Championship overall thanks largely to consistency.
He knows the track, is in a typically competitive Red Bull racer and could very well post a fifth Bathurst 1000 win on Sunday.
Best Roughie
Russell Ingall and Jack Perkins ($21)
Popular veteran Russell Ingall retired from driving in 2014 but was more than happy to answer the call from HRT when lead driver James Courtney was injured in a freak accident a couple of months ago.
Ingall is known for his fearless approach to driving and is sure to cause plenty of headaches to the drivers around him on Sunday.
Having taken out Bathurst on two prior occasions, Ingall will be partnered by Jack Perkins, who has plenty of experienced behind the wheel of a V8 and has grown up in and around Australia’s headline Motorsport category.
The pair will probably have to qualify well if any chance, but $21 to find the chequered flag first is more than worth consideration.
Specialty Markets
We’re offering a number of unique Bathurst 1000 markets on everything from Fastest Lap to which car will be first to retire and everything in between.
Five manufacturers will be represented at Bathurst in 2015, however only three; Holden and Ford and Nissan have the ability to cover the podium from positions one to three. Owing largely to Whincup and Dumbrell figuring as race favourites, we’re offering Holden at $4.50 to clean sweep the podium while Ford offers particularly great value at an $8 quote.
Chaz Mostert set a lap record of 2:07.4913 in 2014, and is $4.75 favourite to set the fastest lap of this year’s edition of the race. The veteran pairing of Craig Lowndes and Steven Richards are worth consideration in this market at $9.
