Albion Park Harness Preview – Thursday 6th August

Albion Park Harness Preview – Thursday 6th August

Albion Park rolls into another Thursday night of harness racing, with Oli Cownie breaking down all 11 races and highlighting the key runners across the card.

Race 1

BARRACUDA (7) is a kiwi that comes into this first up for Chantal Turpin having had three NZ starts for two placings. He looked good in a recent trial when working to the lead before taking them all the way beating Yippe Kiyay.

MAYWYN VALENTINO (1) has plenty of ability but does seem to struggle to capitalise on good draws when leaving the gate slowly or going roughly which could see what would usually be an excellent draw in this race become a tricky one. He does appear likely to be suited by the small field and should be running on late.

DIVINE ABUNDANCE (4) led two starts ago and was run down late by Piccolo Diavolo before heading for a spell following that race. She returned last start and secured a good run before being dragged out of it by a tiring runner and finishing fifth. She may be the early leader and can run well from there.

MY ULTIMATE LEO (6) didn’t put in his absolute best effort last time out when well beaten at Marburg by Our Ultimate Beaty. He should get a good run off the speed in this race and can bounce back third up from a spell.

SELECTIONS: BARRACUDA (7), MAYWYN VALENTINO (1), DIVINE ABUNDANCE (4), MY ULTIMATE LEO (6)

SUGGESTED BET: BARRACUDA (7) to win.

Race 2

DIZZYS HOPE (1) trialled up well when finishing just behind IM FRANKEE (10) in the latest trial who will be giving her a 20 metre head start in this race. She is likely to have derived a lot of benefit from recent trials and with a safe beginning looks to have strong claims in this race.

IM FRANKEE (10) led and scored a dominant win two starts ago at Menangle when leading all the way there. She ran well enough in a recent trial and looks ready to run a good race having her first race start in QLD.

FRAZZLED (9) has shown good ability in three career starts so far when running two good seconds before breaking through for a well deserved win when able to secure a good run close to the speed and finish best to score. He appears to have good manners for a 2YO trotter and should run well again.

STRIER (7) did a few things wrong on his first two starts before putting it all together last time out and leading all the way. He should have derived good benefit from his latest outing and should run well again.

SELECTIONS: DIZZYS HOPE (1), IM FRANKEE (10), FRAZZLED (9), STRIER (7)

SUGGESTED BET: DIZZYS HOPE (1) to win.

Race 3

DINGANE (6) was able to sit without cover last time out and proved too good there when beating MY NAMES BRUCE (2). He comes into this race third up from a spell and should be nearing peak fitness in this race. He should run well again.

MY NAMES BRUCE (2) was able to secure a good run last time out and was beaten far by DINGANE (6) who he takes on again in this race. He appeared to have his chance to beat that horse last time out but does have the barrier draw advantage in this race and may look to maintain that advantage.

BUSTER DAN (3) went around one of the favourites last time out when first up from a spell at Albion Park finding the front before making a break turning for home which took him out of play there. He draws well in this race and can look to bounce back.

LOCHINVAR SON (4) was first up from a spell last time out at this track when working across to the lead before handing over to his stablemate and was slightly checked when that runner made a break. He is likely to have derived good benefit from that outing and should run well second up.

SELECTIONS: DINGANE (6), MY NAMES BRUCE (2), BUSTER DAN (3), LOCHINVAR SON (4)

SUGGESTED BET: DINGANE (6) to win.

Race 4
Each Way

SQUAMISH (9) was able to bounce back nicely last time out when sitting off the speed and sprinting stylishly to score. He had made a break in his previous start before recovering and running a very nice third. If he brings his best manners again he should be very hard to beat.

INSTANT DELIGHT (10) did things wrong at the start last time out and was out of position when they let them go. She did well to recover and was running on late into fifth. She should get a good run into the race and can be running on late.

TARENTAISE (1) impressed last time out when diving on the pegs early before finishing it off nicely into second behind Aldebaran Sue. He is stepping up in grade in this race but does draw well and will have options early.

MISTER BLINDSIDE (7) was driven against what is seemingly his best pattern last time out when launching early before diving onto the pegs and fading out of it to finish last. If he is driven quietly early like he was two starts ago when running on well into second he can bounce back.

SELECTIONS: SQUAMISH (9), INSTANT DELIGHT (10), TARENTAISE (1), MISTER BLINDSIDE (7)

SUGGESTED BET: SQUAMISH (9) to win.

Race 5
Each Way

ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (3) has good early speed and should be able to work across to the lead in the early stages of this race. She was very well driven last start to work across from a wide draw and land the position leaders back before running on nicely into second behind Bettor Cheer. She looks hard to beat.

RACANA (11) draws poorly in this outside the back row but has been racing in good form and was able to battle away well for fourth last time out when sitting without cover in a race taken out by Vincheska. She has versatility and should run well again.

JOHEMIAN (8) should get an economical run in this race and will just be relying on gaps coming at the right time to get into the clear. He had to work hard for the lead last time out and was a good second behind Vincheska at this track over the 1660.

PROSPECTUS (10) got back in the run last time out and was absolute to finish strongly to win at Redcliffe over the 2040. She is likely to get back again from a back row draw and should be running on late.

SELECTIONS: ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (3), RACANA (11), JOHEMIAN (8), PROSPECTUS (10)

SUGGESTED BET: ITS BACK PAGE NEWS (3) to win.

Solid performance when a close second behind Dipped In Silver at Redcliffe over 2040m in a 3yo+ on July 24 at $9.50. Then a handy effort when beaten by 2.5 m finishing second after being driven well back, after showing early speed, behind Bettor Cheer at this track over 1660m in a 3yo+ on July 30 at $23.
Odds are subject to fluctuation. For current odds on all of our live racing markets, please visit www.ladbrokes.com.au/racing. Data retrieved: 05/08/2026 11:10:19 AM (Australia/Brisbane)
Race 6

MISS BAY KING COLE (5) ran a good fourth last time out when behind Amillionchances at this track over the 2138. If she was able to work across to the lead in this race she would likely be very hard to beat over the 1660 dropping back a touch in grade off some her latest efforts.

ROCK HAMMER (3) has early speed and may look to find a prominent position from a good draw. He was left without cover last time out and had a tough run. If he was able to secure a more economical run this time he can run a better race.

BONNIES CAM (10) returns from a long spell in this race and draws outside the back row. He hasn’t trialled so there is a query where he is at coming into this race but he does look well graded and usually runs on well from off the speed when driven quietly early.

LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN (1) doesn’t have much early speed and may be crossed by the very speedy Mullum Doc who may then look for cover in this grade. He has been an improver in recent outings including a good second two starts ago when running on nicely late.

SELECTIONS: MISS BAY KING COLE (5), ROCK HAMMER (3), BONNIES CAM (10), LLANFAIR LLEWELLAN (1)

SUGGESTED BET: MISS BAY KING COLE (5) to win.

Race 7

BITE THE EAR MIKE (7) scored an impressive win when running over the top late rating fast time at this track of 1.53.6 for the 2138. He was suited in that race by a very genuine tempo and may not get the same favours in the run this time from a wide draw.

AMYLEE (10) was caught wide last time out in the Oaks before being shuffled back and was able to run on nicely to eighth behind Ripples. She draws the back row here and looks to be dropping back a long way in grade. She has been improving each start and should run well again.

MY ULTIMATE MARIO (1) was left without cover last time out at this track and trip when running a very good fifth behind Dragon and Bennydasook who was able to go on and win his following start in metro company. He raced roughly early last time out when drawing 1 but that draw can at times cause issues for horses at Redcliffe. If he can lead he would take plenty of running down.

VINCHESKA (6) was well driven last time out to nab the 1-1 last start at this track over the 1660 when sprinting well to score. She draws poorly again in this race and steps up in grade but may have derived good benefit from that latest outing.

SELECTIONS: BITE THE EAR MIKE (7), MY ULTIMATE MARIO (1), AMYLEE (10), VINCHESKA (6)

SUGGESTED BET: MY ULTIMATE MARIO (1) to win.

Race 8

KEAYANG MOSCATO (2) has gate speed and should be able to work to the lead. She led last time out over the 2040 at Redcliffe and was battling away well for third there. She is likely to be better suited stepping back to the 1660 and should run well.

PENNIE PACKER (3) ran a very good race last time out when sitting on the back of Art Jester and not being beaten too far in a race the winner rated fast time. She comes into this race first up for over a month and does draw a touch awkwardly.

GIRL POWER (5) got back in the run last time out and was running on well late. She had taken on a much stronger race her start prior when well beaten. She looks well placed in this company and can run well despite an awkward draw.

OUR SWEET JESS (10) ran a very good race last time out when finishing strongly into second behind Fifty Three stars at this track after getting shuffled back early. She looks likely to get a good run off the speed again and if the race is run to suit she should be running on well.

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG MOSCATO (2), PENNIE PACKER (3), GIRL POWER (5), OUR SWEET JESS (10)

SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG MOSCATO (2) to win.

Not far away at the last couple starts; Finished 3.5 m third behind Little Hoofananny at Redcliffe over 2040m 3yo+ last start. Before that was beaten 3 metres second at this track over 1660m same class on June 25.

Race 9

NUMBER ONE RANGER (6) worked across from a wide draw to take up the lead last time out and was run down late finishing a close up second to Saint Maharg over this track and trip. He looks the most likely leader again in this race and in a slightly lesser race he should take running down.

MAYBE JANIS (8) was first up for Donny Smith at Redcliffe last time out when sitting without cover and fading late into fifth. She is likely to have derived good benefit from that outing and can run a better race here.

PICCOLO DIAVOLO (3) has just moderate gate speed which may see him shuffled back early in this race. He is a capable sit sprinter and ran a good second three start ago behind Major Orion. He should run well again.

LOUMIA (2) made a break in the run last time out which took her out of play there when well beaten. She had trialled up fairly and should run a better race in this field.

SELECTIONS: NUMBER ONE RANGER (6), MAYBE JANIS (8), PICCOLO DIAVOLO (3), LOUMIA (2)

SUGGESTED BET: NUMBER ONE RANGER (6) to win.

Two back was beaten by 8 m finishing second after a quick start, behind Ruggards Gee Tee at this track over 2138m in a 3yo on July 23 at $41. Then a handy effort when a close second after a quick start, behind Saint Maharg at this track over 1660m in a 3yo on July 30 at $1.95.
