English Premier League Week 17 Preview

The English Premier League season has almost reached its halfway point and incredibly Leicester City continue to lead the way; having sat anchored to the bottom of the table at this point of the 2014/15 season.

Surely Chelsea can take something from their match at Stamford Bridge with Sunderland early Sunday morning, however Week 17 of the Premier League is undoubtedly highlighted by Tuesday morning’s blockbuster between Arsenal and Manchester City at The Emirates.

We’re offering the best odds on all ten games in Week 17 of the English Premier League!

Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur

One of the more well-contested matches of Week 17 of the Premier League will probably occur when Southampton hosts Spurs at St Mary’s early Sunday morning Australian time. Southampton have been unable to recapture their blistering 2014/15 form but remain a comfortable 12th overall, while Spurs have continued to make their presence felt on their way to fifth overall and a serious chance of a European berth once more. Having suffered a shock loss to Newcastle in week 16, Tottenham will do everything in their power to return to winning form but a draw undoubtedly represents the best value in win-draw-win markets for this match.

Graziano Pele scores and Southampton wins: $5
Harry Kane scores and Tottenham wins: $5.50

Everton vs Leicester City

Everton having returned to the Premier League in typically competitive form this season but have only managed draws in their three most recent matches in England’s top flight; slipping to tenth overall. The Leicester City fairy tale doesn’t appear like slowing and the Foxes continued their incredible run of form to return to top spot with a 2-1 win over Chelsea last weekend. Again Leicester are offered at ridiculous overs this week and in current form, simply cannot be bet against.

Footy Freaks
Romelu Lukaku scores and Everton wins: $3.50
Jamie Vardy scores and Leicester wins: $7

West Bromwich Albion vs Bournemouth

West Brom mustered a typically competitive effort to draw with Liverpool at Anfield last weekend and return to the Hawthorns early Sunday morning to face a resurgent Bournemouth side, full of confidence after beating Manchester United. The Baggies have been far from disgraced this season without setting the Premier League on fire, and could climb as high as tenth this weekend should they win. It’s pretty difficult to tip against Bournemouth following their win last weekend, but they have been pretty inconsistent and the draw again represents terrific value at a quote of $3.30.

Footy Freaks
Salomon Rondon scores and West Brom wins: $5.50
Matt Ritchie scores and Bournemouth wins: $10

Manchester United vs Norwich City

In what could figure as one of the more one-sided contests of Week 17 of the English Premier League, Manchester United return home to host Norwich City, who remain in the thick of the relegation fight. United have interestingly been unable to post much of a consistent run of form through recent weeks but remain within a couple of wins of first place overall and have restored Old Trafford as one of the league’s toughest road trips. While shock losers to Bournemouth last weekend, United will realistically win this match and win it well.

Footy Freaks
Memphis Depay scores and United wins: $3.50
Cameron Jerome scores and Norwich wins: $17

Chelsea vs Sunderland

Having led at this time last season, Chelsea incredibly remain in the fight to avoid demotion close to halfway through the Premier League season; sitting sixteenth overall after posting only four wins. Having lost to Bournemouth and Leicester City in their two most recent Premier League matches, Chelsea are offered something of an opportunity to return to winning form against the similarly-positioned Sunderland, but there is nothing really to say they won’t just play terribly again. Something has to change at the ‘Big 4’ club if they’re going to survive, and if they lose to the Black Cats on Sunday it will probably be Jose Mourinho’s head on the chopping block.

Footy Freaks
Diego Costa scores and Chelsea wins: $3
Jermain Defoe scores and Sunderland wins: $34

Stoke City vs Crystal Palace

Another intriguing Premier League match is also likely to be contested when Stoke City and Crystal Palace meet at Britannia Stadium in Week 17. Stoke have really started to find form against good teams through recent weeks, most notably witnessed in their 2-0 win over Manchester City a fortnight ago. Crystal Palace have continued in their strong and steady ways and sit sixth overall off the back of a number of typically good results. Palace probably have the edge over Stoke in terms of class and consistently currently, but at home the Potters will be hard to beat. A draw represents great value at $3.25.

Footy Freaks
Marko Arnautovic scores and Stoke wins: $6.50
Yannick Bolasie scores and Palace wins: $9

Newcastle United vs Aston Villa

The lowly Newcastle will host the lowly Aston Villa in a match that could have a bearing on what team is demoted come the end of the season. Following a horror start, Newcastle have started to build in form through recent weeks and enter this match off the back of wins over Liverpool and Tottenham. Villa appear well and truly on their way to The Championship; a clear last overall having posted just one win this season. At home and in current form, the Magpies should make it three in a row.

Footy Freaks
Papiss Cisse scores and Newcastle wins: $4.50
Jordan Ayew scores and Villa wins: $9

Watford vs Liverpool

Watford face Liverpool at home on Monday night Australian time as one of the Premier League’s formed teams, having climbed to an impressive seventh overall thanks to three consecutive wins. Liverpool have clearly responded well to the addition of Jurgen Klopp to the helm and continue to work their way back towards the right end of standings. In current form this match should be a great contest and both teams figure at great odds in win-draw-win markets.

Footy Freaks
Odion Ighalo score and Watford wins: $8
Christian Benteke scores and Liverpool wins: $4.50

Swansea City vs West Ham United

Swansea City have fallen desperately out of form recently and now sit perilously close to the drop; seventeenth overall on only fourteen competition points. In the process of appointing a new Manager, the Swans will relish a return to the Liberty Stadium following a hard-fought loss to Manchester City in Week 16. West Ham are amidst a run of three straight draws but are arguably offered their best chance of snapping the steak at Swansea. It’s surely only a matter of time until Swansea return to good, consistent condition and they are worth consideration at current $2 odds.

Footy Freaks
Gylfi Sigurdsson scores and Swansea wins: $6.50
Andy Carroll scores and West Ham wins: $9

Arsenal vs Manchester City

Week 17 of the Premier League will draw to a close with undoubtedly its best fixture; Arsenal vs Manchester City at The Emirates. Two of the league’s benchmarks this season, the Gunners and City sit second and third respectively leading into their Tuesday morning clash and either could seize top spot overall with success. In years gone by not a lot has separated Arsenal and City in both London and Manchester and that is sure to be the case again this week. A draw should be worth consideration therefore at a generous quote of $3.40.

Olivier Giroud scores and Arsenal wins: $5
Sergio Aguero scores and City wins: $5.50
