Week 12 of the A-League will get underway on Thursday night when the ladder-leading Western Sydney Wanderers host the inconsistent Jets in Parramatta.
Wellington and Sydney FC will each look to return to winning form against Adelaide and Central Coast respectively after drawing last week, but the round is undoubtedly highlighted by Sunday’s match between the Roar and Melbourne City on Sunday evening.
We’re offering the best odds on the widest range of markets for all five matches in Week 12 of the A-League!
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Newcastle Jets
In what could very well be the most one-sided match in Week 12 of the A-League, the Western Sydney Wanderers look to continue their unbeaten streak past the Newcastle Jets. The Wanderers were held to a draw by the Glory in the nation’s best on Saturday but have posted wins over the Roar and Victory in recent weeks and are always a tough task in front of their parochial home crowd. The Jets started the season in very positive form but have dropped out of touch in recent weeks and sit seventh overall after failing to take all three points from their Week 11 match at home to Adelaide. Western Sydney should win this match and win it well.
Adelaide United vs Wellington Phoenix
The similarly-formed Adelaide United and Wellington Phoenix meet at Coopers Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Adelaide have undoubtedly been the league’s big disappointment so-far this campaign but have got their campaign heading in the right direction through recent fixtures and are undefeated since week 8. Wellington have been pretty inconsistent to sit sixth overall with a 4-3-3 record, but remain in striking distance of a finals berth with 15 competition points. Holding Sydney FC to a draw in Week 11, the Phoenix are some chance of success on Saturday but this is one of those games that strongly points towards a draw.
Sydney FC vs Central Coast Mariners
Sydney FC have been anything but impressive through recent weeks but are offered a good opportunity to return to winning form at home to the bottom-placed Central Coast Mariners on Saturday night. The Sky Blues have interestingly posted only one win since their 3-1 triumph over the Mariners in Week 4 but remain fourth overall owing to almost countless draws. The Mariners have been unable to make much of the 2015/16 A-League season and were again left with nothing in Week 11 after an 87th minute Dimitri Petratos strike saw Brisbane Roar take all three points. Sydney always put on a good show at home and will realistic win this match.
Melbourne Victory vs Perth Glory
Having topped the table for most of the first seven week of the A-League, Melbourne Victory have slipped into a massive form slump and have lost each of their four most recent matches as a result, including a mid-week match against their Week 12 rivals. Perth have finally started to make something of their season and will have taken plenty of confidence from their win over the Victory last week and subsequent draw with the league-leading Wanderers. Three weeks ago Melbourne Victory would have been justifiable resounding favourites but it current form, the Glory are worth consideration at current $6.50 odds to win on Sunday.
Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne City
Round 12 of the A-League will draw to a close in the best way possible when title threats the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City meet north of the border on Sunday evening. Brisbane flew the gates this season and quickly took a stranglehold on top spot, but have been brought back to the main group as other clubs begin to peak in form; clubs like Melbourne City who are making a habit of beating teams by four goals in very commanding displays. These clubs met in Brisbane only a few weeks ago and played out a 1-1 draw; the Roar lucky to salvage a point thanks to a late Henrique strike. City interestingly rate as $3 outsiders and arguably offer punters the best value for money in A-League betting markets this week.
