‘CHIEF’ TO BE KING OF THE JUNGLE
When your nickname is ‘Chief’ even before you enter the jungle, it’s fairly safe to assume you’re going to command more than a little respect once you’re immersed in the elements of Africa.
With that in mind, Ladbrokes has installed Paul Harragon as favourite to take out the second series of Network Ten’s, ’I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here’.
Australia’s love of sport has seen rugby league great Harragon, cricket legend Shane Warne and AFL bad boy Brendon Fevola fill three of the first four lines of betting on Ladbrokes market.
‘Chief’ Harragon is a $3 favourite to be King of the Jungle with Warne ($3.50), comedian Akmal Saleh ($5) and Fevola ($6) the only four contestants in single figure odds.
“To be fair, these guys are the biggest names in there so already having that rapport with the Australian public should hold them in good stead,” Ladbrokes Head of Media, Roger Oldridge said.
“With no access to alcohol, Fev shouldn’t be able to get himself into too much trouble .. but then again, it’s Fev, so who knows?
“Warnie would be a clear favourite if not for our scepticism as to whether he can last a few days, let-alone the distance, without social media or smokes.”
DJ Havana Brown is the top rated female according to Ladbrokes bookmakers and, given she is very familiar to the kind of demographic which will be watching so intently, she presents good value at $13.
At the other end of the scale, few would have heard of Bonnie Lythgoe ($34) or remember who Dean Geyer ($17) is.
Not too long since being cast off by Blake Garvey, Laurina Fleure looms as the most intriguing jungle entrant given her obscure popularity among some of The Batchelor devotees.
“To be honest, we think she’ll bail if she doesn’t get voted out,” Oldridge said.
“If she doesn’t like a ‘dirty street pie’, she probably won’t handle a cook up of fried crickets,” Oldridge said.
