The third instalment of the Auckland Nines tournament will take place this weekend and will give Rugby League fans the first real taste of what to expect when all sixteen clubs return for the 2016 NRL Premiership next month.
The North Queensland Cowboys won their first ever piece of silverware when victorious in the competition’s inaugural year, while the South Sydney Rabbitohs franked their 2014 Grand Final win with success in Auckland’s second Nines tournament.

The sixteen NRL clubs have been sorted into four pools for the 2016 Auckland Nines competition and will compete in a round robin stage before entering sudden death quarterfinals, semi-finals and the decider.
Owing to its short, sharp format and the fact games kick off immediately after each other, the Auckland Nines always figures as a particularly lucrative tournament from a head to head betting perspective.
The first round of matches will include a number of interesting matches, including a game between Manly ($1.67) and Brisbane ($2.15). Manly have been reasonably inconsistent in the Nines previously and an exciting Broncos outfit are more than worth consideration as outsiders.
