The fastest man on the planet, Usain Bolt, is a $5 chance to start the new A-League season
on the pitch according to Ladbrokes bookmakers, who have framed numerous markets
around the sprint superstar.
As revealed in Tuesday’s News Limited press, Bolt has been in talks with the Central Coast
Mariners for months about transitioning his pace to the football pitch and living out a dream
of playing professional football.
“From what we hear about Bolt, this certainly has more credibility than say, Andrew Johns
playing for New South Wales in the early days of the hit and giggle Big Bash,” Ladbrokes
spokesperson Roger Oldridge said.
Aside from being rated a $5 chance to start on the pitch for the Mariners in the opening
week, Bolt is a $2.50 chance to score at some point throughout the season and an ambitious
$251 to be the league’s top goal scorer.
Whether it be with the Mariners or another club, should he be transferred, the eight-time
Olympic gold medallist is $21 to be an official member of the team which hoists the grand
final winner’s trophy.
Other markets include Bolt to score a hat trick ($67) and for him to be sent off at some point
in the season ($26).
All bets will be refunded should Bolt fail to sign a contract with a A-League club before the
beginning of round 1 on October 19.
