Dormello Mo returned to the races with a dominant 14 lengths victory at Warrnambool and he is the horse to beat in the Brierly Steeplechase. It has been a while since he won over the jumps, but there is an argument to be made that he is actually racing in career best form. He has had a couple of trials ahead of this contest and he goes into the race with plenty of metres in his legs.
Paremuus Boy has been racing well this campaign and this contest does look ideal for him. He savaged the line to record an impressive win at The Valley three starts ago and his last start effort at Caulfield. This is a genuine drop in quality and Warrnambool is a track that does suit him. This is his chance to return to winning form.
Honorable Mention has been set for a first-up tilt at this contest and he has recorded two wins from as many first-up starts. He finished his Summer campaign with an impressive win at Ladbrokes Park and he does have form around some talented gallopers. He has previously won at Warrnambool and he has far more upside than the rest of this field.
It has been over a year since Prince Of Venice was seen at the races, but it would not surprise if Matthew Williams had him very forward for his return to the races. He finished his most recent racing campaign with two straight wins, his first-up record is strong and he has won at Warrnambool in the past. I am willing to gamble on his fitness at the current price of $8.
