Li’l Kontra recorded a very impressive win in the Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville last start and she still has the scope to improve on that performance. A repeat of that type of performance will make her very tough to beat in the Queen Adelaide Stakes and the wide barrier draw gives William Pike plenty of options.
Spanish Reef has an excellent chance to return to winning form in the Queen of The South Stakes. She was beaten as an odds-on favourite in the Sunline Stakes, but the form coming out of that race has been strong and she was not disgraced in the Queen Of The Turf Stakes. This is a drop in class and she should prove too strong for her rivals.
Jamaican Rain returned to the races with a classy win in the Mannerism Stakes and she had genuine excuses after being galloped on following a strong betting move for her in the Coolmore Classic. The fact that she has been freshened-up since that race is a big positive as she has recorded four wins from her five first-up starts.
Intrigue has been sent to Australia after running well at Group 2 level in New Zealand. New Zealand three-year-old staying form generally does hold-up nicely in Queensland during the Winter Racing Carnival and he is a gelding with a fair amount of upside. The $7.50 that is currently available is well and truly over the odds.
