Star Surprise ran some impressive closing sectionals when he made his racing debut at Sale last start and he still did plenty wrong. He should take good natural improvement from that performance and if he is able to do that he should prove tough to beat. Barrier one is ideal and he will get a lovely trail into this contest.
Tristano was only narrowly denied a return to winning form with a tough effort at Cranbourne last start. This race is no tougher and he should now be at peak fitness third-up. He should have no trouble taking up a forward position from barrier two and he will give his rivals something to catch.
Patriot was only narrowly denied after not having a great deal of luck at Casino last start and this is a genuine drop in quality. He is a consistent performer that very rarely produces a poor performance and he has won at Port Macquarie in the past. Barrier four is ideal and he will be flying home in the concluding stages.
It has been a long time between race wins for Gold Symphony and he is no longer a consistent performer, but he still represents value at his current odds of $11 in what is an open edition of the Wauchope RSL Club Cup. His last start effort at Casino was excellent and a repeat of that performance would have him right in this race.
